They get lumped into avant /art rock/post prog punk lists usually. Odd style ..on some songs they seem to have many things going on. There are a number of people on Prog Archives that rave about them and 3 or 4 of their lps get 4 stars. Been trying to assimilate it for some time now. I recall...

I have been aware of them for some time but never really explored their music before. I used to say they sounded like XTC on acid. ;) What did you think of the music...? Just...

Only read a handful of 'rock' bios....No One Here Gets Out Alive on the Doors, Somebody To LOve by Slick, and Hammer of the Gods on Zep....all were ok but the one I enjoyed the most was a little known one by Bill Bruford: Autobiography....about his days with YEs and CRimson....but I'm a prog...

An interesting band ....havent heard their name in years....I recall Kimono My House and Propaganda...both are decent lps if one likes quirky avant art/pop rock with a touch of prog. For FanMael you might like BeBop Deluxe, XTC, and The Cardiacs...all 3 wonderful bands that also do quirky avant...

please recommend a progressive rock band.

Van Der Graf Generator are truly one of the great intense prog bands of all time....dark moody melodic and an over the top singer writer in Peter Hammill. 'Scorched Earth' from Godbluff (1975)
