I think this is the first time I have seen Eels mentoned here. I have got the Beautiful Freak album, but would like to get Souljacker, which is probably better. I first came across Eels on Later with Jools Holland, around the Souljacker time, and the drummer, who ever he was, really stood out...

    Musical disapointment of 2013...

Fish Rising, his first solo album (but recorded with Gong), is one of my favourite albums. Salmon Song has one of the all-time great riffs.

    Musical disapointment of 2013...

Another album I'm struggling with is Paul McCartney's New. Usually, I'm among the first to leap to his defence, but this is not working for me.

    Musical disapointment of 2013...

I cannot get into the new Steve Hillage album, Phoenix Rising, recorded under the System 7 name and in collaboration with Rovo. I read that it was a return to his seventies style, but it still has the dreaded dance-y feel and Rovo's two drummers are noisy and messy. Worst of all there are no...

^ Good for him, I say.

    30 Years From Now

I'll definitely be listening to the Pattinson-Schenker Summit and Black Country Communion albums when I'm 85.

    Thanks Riff Raff.

    Happy Birthday Big Ears!

Thanks Phil, Vehicle and Tray. I'm on the bottom row now, it's really difficult. Novelist Anthony Powell said, "Growing old is like being increasingly penalized for a crime you have not committed." I had to laugh at that (he's 94).

Thanks Squidbilly. I wuld settle for hunt and peck on capitals, punctuation and numbers, if I could remember everything else.

    Happy Birthday Big Ears!

I'll bear that in mind Bruce, thanks for the advice.

People keep huskies here (and race them), but it must seem hot to them in the summer. I suppose there is a point where few animals can survive the cold. I think it's cruel when people leave horses outside over night in the snow.

I read somewhere you have to learn slowly to type quickly.

I once met a person from Africa, who was horrified to see we let dogs into the house. I think it's a cultural thing, although I would draw a line at having a dog on the bed.

    Happy Birthday Big Ears!

I did typing at school, Bruce, but reverted to bad habits. I intend to keep going this time (with qwerty)! I am using online schemes, mainly Type Online. I tried to borrow books from the library, but they did not have any without a reservation. This is possibly because people borrow them and...

    Happy Birthday Big Ears!

Thank you everyone (with particular mention to Connie), I've only just noticed this thread and stumbled on it accidentally as I've been a bit busy recently. I am also trying to teach myself to touch type and have been avoiding all the forums as much as possible! I have tried to teach myself to...

What Black Sabbath Song Do You Enjoy More?

Symptom of the Universe from Sabotage is Black Sabbath's best ever track, closely followed by Warning on the first album (imo).

I don't normally listen to audiiobooks, but I couldn't resist this. It's the fictional account of Norwich TV presenter Alan Partridge, read by Steve Coogan:
