ZZ Top - What genre/subgenre would you classify them as?

If Bad Co. is from the southern part of England then, yes, Southern Rock. :D Regarding ZZ Top... I grew up in the 70's so I remember when ZZ Top was just a rock band. ;) :D

1 hit wonders of the 90's

After double checking Wiki, while "Born Of Frustration" didn't chart in the U.S. on Billboard's Top 100 (the chart I first checked before I posted earlier), I see the song did hit No. 5 on the U.S. Alternative charts, so it seems the song did make a splash here in the U.S. A spalsh that...

1 hit wonders of the 90's

James' "Born Of Frustration"? Naturally the band had plenty of songs on the UK Charts (not that any of them were any good imo), but here in the states this non-charting song got plenty of airplay on the local Alternative radio station in the early 90's. Their only song on the U.S. Charts was...

Is there a better album to listen to five times in a row as you do dishes and laundry while cooking and cleaning? I submit there is not!

    Lindsey Buckinghams guitar style

Not to criticize Lindsey Buckingham, but I don't think he is/was the most prolific guitarist that there ever was. Imo he is ok, but just ok. I think Neil Schon and Gary Ritchrath are two other guitarists that most fans feel are "capable", but neither are extraordinary (though to be fair to...

    Cover Or Original.

"Cornflake Girl" is a great song of hers! And yet another good one, imo, from that album is "God". Both from 1994. It's hard to believe that album came out 25 years ago. Damn!

    Cover Or Original.

Tori Amos -- "Angie" While the better vocalist on their respective versions may be debatable, instrumentally I think Tori's piano work, though different to be sure, is every bit as good as Nicky Hopkins piano and the subtlties of Mick Taylor's acoustic guitar both are on The Stones' version.

Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Hair Metal Albums" - Strip List

I always thought Def Leppard's Hysteria was little more than a watered-down version of Pyromania so I'm not too worried about it getting axed. Anyhoo... 02. Poison — Look What The Cat Dragged In (1986) 03. Bon Jovi — Slippery When Wet (1986) 04. Mötley Crüe — Shout At The Devil (1983) 05...

    16. Twisted Sister — Stay Hungry (1984) Sorry, but Twisted Sister does not belong on a list of "Greatest" anything. So As Billy Crystal said to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the movie Forget Paris, "let me be the first to say... good-bye!" :D 01. Def Leppard — Hysteria (1987) 02. Poison — Look What...

    "Hair Metal" vs Grunge

Oh, I disagree. While some Grunge vocalists may have had a reputation for brooding (namely Cobain and Vedder), I think Layne Staley and Chris Cornell were not only the two best vocalists of all the Grunge bands (although Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood was also very good), they (Stayley and...

    "Hair Metal" vs Grunge

Nikki Sixx once said that a lot bands playing the clubs in the early 80's (eg: Motley, Dokken and Ratt) considered bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd to be dinosaurs, and it was time for a change. Although I wouldn't have agreed with his comment had he said it in the early 80's, I...

Hello, hello, hello? (Echo, echo, echo.) Anyone here under the age of 65? :)

The speed limit in Utah depends on where you are. 65 seems to be the freeway speed limit in and around the major cities, and 80 is the posted speed limit on the open interstate. So add ten miles per hour above the posted speed limit accordingly for your actual speed. On topic... I'm still in my...

    Lynyrd Skynyrd (Official Thread)

I don't know if it's already been mentioned in any of the 16 pages of posts or not (though it probably has), but the band officially recorded the live track "Travelin' Man" in the studio in 1997.

    The List Of Music Genres

In the (I suppose) "Pop" genre I would include "Doo Wop", "Elevator" and Elevator's sister, "Muzak". I also didn't see "Commercial Pop" listed anywhere, but to quote K-Uger from Seinfeld, "I'm not too worrired about it." :D

"Let It Rain" from the 70's, "It's In The Way That You Use It" from the 80's, and "Bad Love" from the 90's. That's 3 for the price of 1! The Marshall Tucker Band
