I recall buying it a few days after it came out at the local record shop at IU Bloomington literally across the street from main campus....ran to my brothers dorm room 3 blocks away to play it on his stereo which was better than mine. :rock:
Love Joe's voice....a classic to be sure.....I wish they had toned down the production a bit and just let him sing without all the strings/stuff and ladies in the background...still 8/10

I'm with you on that....I have a favorite watering hole/eatery in my town where the servers know me onsight . A few of us go there a lot for craft beers and food.....they always play the same top 40 canned music lists (80s to 2000s) which only has a a few older songs in the mix. I always rag...
I think it depends a good deal on what era one grew up in and lived through. I like the songs of the 60s and 70's the best but that's my prime listening times. I'm betting that someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s onward into the 2000's might think some of the best songs came from that time...
I enjoyed Grace Slicks autobio..lots of west coast tales......Bill Bruford autobio (drummer for Yes and King Crimson)...nice look at early prog rock.....Warren Zevon bio by wife and friends...very interesting character.
I'm not usually a country fan but riverrat mentioned this guy on the 'ten best lps thread'.....and I think he is interesting at times like on this one.....
