    Grateful Dead (Official Thread)

Hunter was just an absolutely amazing lyricist. Haunting lyrics that occupy your mind for a lifetime. That really was the key to catching the dead thing. Once Hunter's lyrics got into your head you were hooked. You just needed to crack the code because it seemed like a great prize waited in...

    "Hair Metal" vs Grunge

Actually this all gets me thinking and comments about where the Hair Spandex etc goes back to. Here's my take in the large. Rock and Roll (and the beats and folk etc) began in response to a supremely overly oppressive climate in the Post WW2 era of total paranoia. The paranoia and fear resulted...

    "Hair Metal" vs Grunge

I'm well aware of where it goes back to. The NY dolls come to mind. They dressed like women. I love Bowie. His music was great. But he often did dress like a woman. Or a whatever you want to call it? It's hair splitting. And again. I don't get it. What's the point? Other than being a...

Ric Ocasek, Lead Singer of The Cars, Dead in New York at 75

R.I.P. I had no idea he was 75. Wow that would have made him 34 when the first Cars album came out? I had no idea. Well he was a great songwriter and created very cool unique old meets new vibe that I really dug a lot when it happened.

    "Hair Metal" vs Grunge

I never understood Hair Metal. I just can't understand the urge to raid you girlfriend's closet and dress like a woman. Anywhere I hung out it would have earned an ass whooping. Grunge had a few good bands but it quickly got pretty phony with a lot of bands that were just copying the style...

Any idea who this band were?

It's either the Boston band "Clam Roll" or the NYC band "The Queefs". But I could be wrong.

    Forgotten Bands of the Sixties

Won't be that long till they all are forgotten. Got my son a Stratocaster for Xmas and said "that's the same guitar Eric Clapton uses". His older brother said "whoever Eric Clapton is". Not very long till it's all like the memories of the "swing era".

Hi I'm Wolf, I'm An Alcoholic

My Red Sox suck so screw them all! How do you go from winning the series to not making the playoffs in one year with basically the same team? I smell rat crap.

New Whiskey Myers single and album

Awesome! I've been a fan of these guys for years. Ballad of a Southern man is the most epic song since Synyrd did Simple Man

    Guilty pleasures?

Most of mine are leftovers from when I was young. There's something about some of the songs from when you were in your early teens. They make you remember back then fondly.

(Favorite Song) The Who: Who's Next

Baba. The best use of it I've seen from the brown dirt cowboy series Prohibition. I recommend the whole thing.
