Dio was technically a better vocalist.
But Ozzy just had that weird trippy vibe that for me IS Sabbath.
Yes Sabbath with Dio made good albums but I wish they just called it something else.
I don't think it is ironic.
Just the fact that it's mixed in with lyrics that don't seem ironic.
I always took it as literal.
But once again it's from a different time.
How bout the Cure
Standing on the beach
With a gun in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring down the barrel...
It is a tough one.
Every start that I make doesn't seem adequate.
So I'll just to with one that's playing in my earphones now.
Blue Oyster Cult - Subhuman
It doesn't capture everything about BOC but you could do worse.
Best I can manage. It's a tough one.
I tried Skynyrd and just couldn't...
I gotta admit it sound pretty damn good.
I've never been much of a Hall and Oats fan but damn....

One of the primary knocks on Americana music has always been that it acts as a retirement home for old...
It is physical sales.
Digital and download sales don't pay artist worth a damn.
Actually it just improved a lot just a couple of weeks ago they got a big victory, but it's still not great...
Well yeah and you couldn't have the lyrics "Dykes and Fairies" these days.
The PC crowd would completely lose their shit over that.
In fact I think the comments for the video are full of such complaints.
It came from a different time.
There were any number of bands that played small venues that most people never really knew.
Back when I was still clubing the Neighborhoods from Boston were great.
And we had a local band that went on to better things. Deservedly.
And of course the Replacements never really got their due...
This is the time of year to start marking the Calendar.
I've already put a couple of circles on for Blue Oyster Cult and Blackberry Smoke.
The tour dates for next summer are going up now.
I generally take a trip through Jambase to see the listing for my area.

Yeah. I agree.
There are some great bluegrass events.
I love bluegrass.
The Steel Drivers are on of my favorite bands in any genre.
This is a great event. We try to make it every year.
Hell yeah!
Summer time means big outdoor concerts.
They just make me happy.
All we need is to set up a spot on the infield with a nice comfy chair a short walk to the beer tent and I'm good. Tunes and happiness.
Speaking as an old guy I have learned to really like the "Jamband" scene a lot.
Great music.
And the big thing is the great mutiday outdoor camping concerts.
The party is in the jamband scene these days.
And there are festivals all summer long.
Jamcruise would be great as well but I just can't...
No idea. I think you'll find that modern country rock is a bit rare.
It doesn't really happen. Probably just modern country.
Which I don't really know.
But I'm willing to turn it into a "country girl sings about drinking" thread.
Which for me brings about thoughts of Sarah Shook.
No shit!
I didn't catch that either.
He was just in the "Long Strange Trip" documentary.
A really talented fellow. Imagine being the guy who wrote so many great songs for the Dead like Cassidy for instance and your talents are so huge that when you die the headline reads "Internet Pioneer" not...
Often they are referred to as "Rehab albums".
When the members go off the rails and crash and burn they do a Greatest Hits album.
And since few bands live that lifestyle any longer they are fewer I guess?
Actually it seems like albums are a dying thing. Of all kind.
We are back to the age of...
Yeah I thought they went and got a guy who did a pretty good rendition of Bon Scott at the time.
Which I found a bit off putting. But after a bit I didn't care because the songs were great.
I'm sure they could do the same thing again.
The really big loss is Malcolm.
He wrote the songs.
They...
