    John Coltrane

I admit that whenever John Coltrane is mentioned I can't help but think of the Dream Syndicate song "John Coltrane Stereo Blues".

OK how could I not comment on this. A band that does all Black Sabbath covers dressed as MacDonalds characters. And they are good! Vocals / Ronald Osbourne Guitar / Slayer MacCheeze Bass / Grimalice Drums / the Catburglar Jaw is slack... http://www.officialmacsabbath.com/ More Ribs (War Pigs)

    Blue Oyster Cult (Official Thread)

The early stuff is IMO what made them special. Very unique. In my opinion that stuff is what defines their identity. The weird mix of psychedelia and spooky monster movie vibe. They changed a lot. Still good just not the same thing as they were. I love Cultasaurus but it's a whole other thing...

CDs, vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011

This guy does a "study" of the differences and he contends that the human ear can't hear the difference. It's long and involved and he isolates the differences and plays just that. Fr me it either sounds good or not. And most MP3's sound fine to me.

My Son and I saw them Friday Night in New Hampshire. My son's first BOC show and it's all he's been talking about since. And he's got all his friends listening to BOC now. Very great show in a wonderful small venue. An old time renovated theater. It was a standard BOC show up to The Vigil when...

CDs, vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011

I do have a premium sound system in the car and actually I can't hear the difference either. But some people can. I do the same. I actually usually buy the CD on Amazon and then immediately download the MP3. The CD comes later and I might take it to our camp where I still listen to CD's. Most...

I suppose if you have to go

The last way I'd like to go out is dropping dead at work. Right in my stupid cubicle. That would just be such a horrible statement about the average guy's life these days. Just work some place till they haul you out and plug somebody else in. We had a dude drop last month. Face down in the lunch...

It lives up to his legacy of weirdness. And greatness. Zappa, Beefheart, Col. Bruce Hampton.

I suppose if you have to go

Dropping dead during the grand finale of a celebration for your 70th birthday as all of the the stars gather for the final number like during the Last Waltz might be a good way to go out. Of course the fact that nobody knows you have dropped dead and keeps playing as you lay there on stage is a...

Old rock songs which are nowadays politically incorrect

Songs that would be too politically or culturally incorrect to be written, recorded or played on the Radio today. Sometimes for good reason. For instance...

I ran across this. I had to laugh. I love it. I've never been able to muster much sympathy for rock stars. They get driven around the country in a bedroom on wheels and go to work a couple hours a day. And get to do drugs and drink themselves silly and then complain about a "nightmare descent...

Yeah I'm with you. And also I don't think Albums are as appreciated. They form a whole work. There is a lot in the enjoyment from the mix of individual tracks. How they go from one vibe to another. And also just the "event" of an album from your favorite artists. Music just doesn't play as...

CDs, vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011

Now if Radio makes a comeback we might actually be getting somewhere. I remember marking the calendar for that days that big releases came out. The local radio had been advertising them for a while. And they'd debut them. I'm not entirely sure how the same hype happens today. And record stores...
