    It's a Sammy Hagar-Off!

Neither. The Red Rocker's vocals irritate me. Montrose excluded.

    First heavy metal song?

This isn't all about me. How about your description/definition of "traditional heavy metal"? Maybe your account of the genre will motivate me. The Wikipedia definition will not be accepted. :D

Sons of Apollo - Psychotic Symphony(2017): a new supergroup featuring the "fastest" drummer in the world, Mike Portnoy. Nothing ground breaking. Straight ahead, middle-of-the-road prog-metal. With that being said, it's very well done.

    First heavy metal song?

IMHO, the genealogy has to be laid out in some detail as it is the foundation of "traditional heavy metal". I don't think no one can name a specific date when the genre became clearly distinguishable. For me, I take 1976 as the floor of "traditional heavy metal" however there is exceptions of a...

Battle of hard rock albums from 1979: Lovedrive or Van Halen II?

Gotta go with the Scorps. 'Lovedrive' and 'Taken By Force' are neck in neck. 'II' was a very good follow-up to their debut.

    First heavy metal song?

Really? My description of "traditional heavy metal" is not a few paragraphs long. It has many elements, complexities and nuances musically, culturally and historically. No short, single description does justice to the genre of heavy metal. The influences, precursors and prototypes are staggering...

    First heavy metal song?

I see and hear that most of the tracks listed in this thread are hard rock, heavy psych, acid rock and psych or a combination of the preceding sub-genres. I'd say that some of the tracks are proto-metal but are not traditional(classic) heavy metal.
