One of my fav "new" southern rock artist. 'Country Ghetto' is porched with blues, funk, soul and even gospel. I was disappointed with 'This River' as it was more of a mainstream blues rock and lacked the elements and energy of Mofro's earlier releases. 'Ol' Glory' was somewhat an improvement...

First of all, IMHO the word "genius" is overused and has lost it's potency to some degree.
I think all these guitarists are very talented(not know Dee Murray) and most choices are made on one's favourite artist(s) and genre(s) and on a regional basis. For example, on that list I would chose...
'Toys In The Attic' and 'Rocks' were huge in my teens. I was a fan of of their late '80's - early '90's stuff as well. I heard "Janie's Got a Gun" the other day and I cringed. Just can't absorb it anymore.
We used to wait at the back exist of the local theater and drag disco chumps in the alley and lay the boots to 'em.:D

@Vader Just finished. Certainly surpassed my expectations. I've never really been impressed with Don Airey's work over the years but on this album his keys are phenomenal. No surprize, Steve Morse guitar is superb. Definitely Mk. II - ish.
Your welcome.:cheers2

Here's a link to a series of threads I did a number of years ago on some blues rock albums. I never did finish as it I got banned... lol. I might finish it if I get motivated enough...
Right on. Glad you like it. Two other albums to check out: Chain - Toward the Blues(1971) and Band of Light - Total Union(1973). Both Australian blues rock/boogie.
