    Most Overlooked Rock Guitar Genius

@Big Ears I agree that 3 of the 4 were overlooked. Ollie Halsall with Patto and then replacing Alan Holdsworth in Tempest were very good albums but when he teamed up again with Mike Patto to form Boxer, 'Below the Belt' was below average. Luther Grosvenor was great with Spooky Tooth...

I'd say it was 20 years ago I last heard this. It's heavier than what I remember and definitely outshines my memory.

More like Fragile. Close to the Edge is regarded as one or if not the most acclaimed prog album of all time.

Thanks for posting. I did listen to some tracks. It's not that bad. The drumming really stood out and not in a good way. Geoff Downes had a hard time on the two tracks from TFTO and that's understandable. The bass sounded trebley. Howe is in good form. The vocals were the highlight as it sounds...

Crack the Sky - Crack the Sky(1975): prog/rock/hard rock; Rolling Stone's album of the year for '75. It didn't help. I still consider it a "lost classic".

Stone The Crows - Ode to John Law(1970); blues rock/hard rock/prog/soul; Maggie Bell was "Scotland's answer to Janis Joplin." Maggie Bell's vocals were more down to the earth. Bassist James Dewar played on the first two of the Crows' releases and later joined forces with Robin Trower. Great...

Spooky Tooth - Witness(1973): rock/prog; The fourth version of the band that features future Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones. Spooky Tooth was one of the few bands that still incorporated blue-eyed soul in the mid-'70's. Blue-eyed soul might be politically incorrect in today's sphere(?).

No I haven't. I'm not sure if I can call this version, "Yes". Steve Howe and Allan White are the only members from the classic period. No Squire. Geoff Downes doesn't count as I don't consider 'Drama' from the classic period. The vocalist is a carbon copy of Jon Anderson. Billy Sherwood is the...

I haven't heard this in years as well. I do remember all the "honoured" prog guests of the day appearing on the album. Manzanera's other offshoot, Quiet Sun was another gem... again it's been years.

Yes - Yes(1969): prog/psych/pop; Warm and uplifting. Peter Banks and Tony Kaye are darn good musicians in their own right. Kaye's Hammond whirls on this album.
