Maybe this is why Richie only plays with his wife now in a band setting.
Yeah it is sad but at least Ian was honest about it without being too hostile or disrespectful to Richie. He simply doesn't care for him and doesn't want to be around him. I felt that way about my brother for a while and...
Music in a doll's house is a great album. A true unsung classic imo.
Family Entertainment is a better sounding album but it's tough to beat their debut. FE is still very good though.
I don't know anything else by this band though but hope to change that at some point. I've heard that their...
^ I told you. ;) I don't expect anyone to like it as much as me though. However, keep in mind that it is a real grower. Like that wine you are pouring for yourself it will sneak up on you. ;)
[A friend of mine did recommend Rajaz, but I haven't taken the time yet to get it.]
Rajaz is good but I haven't heard it in a long time. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend "dust and dreams." IT is without a doubt one of the very best prog albums from the past 25 years or so(and even all time...
Camel is a great band and easily in my top ten favorite bands of all time.
However, they are not known by everyone(like most second tier prog bands and yes that does include Gentle Giant). BUt greatness and popularity are often two separate things.
Snowgoose and Dust and dreams are my two...
Wow, unfortunately I missed them on tv. I did see VDGG twice live so I'm very grateful for that since they rarely play in the US.
However, VDGG did not play at Nearfest in 08. That picture, if from Nearfest, was taken during Peter Hammill's solo performance that year. I saw him at the...
Not a 90's band? Well sure they are. They were very much active in the nineties. No, they weren't very popular in the 90's. Even to this day they aren't super well known outside of prog circles but they are a lot bigger than they were then.
Re: Post your latest CD/DVD/Vinyl/Cassette purchases here!
I bought "elemental" by Tears For Fears on cd at a thrift store a few years ago. I'll look into the others.
Re: Post your latest CD/DVD/Vinyl/Cassette purchases here!
Tony Carey's "Pink World?" Don't you mean Planet P Project? I know Tony Carey was the mastermind behind that band but I'm pretty sure it was released under the Planet P Project name.
Re: Post your latest CD/DVD/Vinyl/Cassette purchases here!
Just wondering where that dollar bin is? I take it that it's in some retail store. Please tell me the name of this place if you can!:D
Re: Post your latest CD/DVD/Vinyl/Cassette purchases here!
Mostly older stuff that I have found for 5 to 11 dollars:
Jeff Beck-Beck ola
Santana-Shaman
REO Speedwagon-high infidelity
Traffic-low spark of high heeled boys
Steely Dan-Aja
The Police-Zenyatta Mondatta
Jethro Tull-Living in the past...
Re: Bigelf
Hey another band for some of you to check and look into(I'm not allowed to mention other websites but google is your friend)is a band from Sweden called Black Bonzo. Check them out. I saw them a few years ago at Rosfest and they were really great. Along with RPWL(who those who are...
I've heard of those bands as well as the Soft Boys, Cardiacs, Pere Ubu and PIL. I even have a couple Pere Ubu cds but I think they are more experimental proto punk. I used to like "cut the crap" by the Clash when I was a teen. I bought it again recently and it's a lot worse than I remember...
Nope. I'm too young. Punk is usually considered to be the "executioner" of my favorite kind of music which is prog rock. I'm not angry or bitter(unlike most punks). I was only 7 in 77 anyway so I can't say. ANyway, as I've matured I've been interested in exploring some punk. I'm kind of new to...
This is my first time ever peeking in this forum. I never would have considered the Black Keys a punk band though. I barely consider Greenday a punk band.
ELO aren't in there. Neither is ELP or the Moody Blues or Styx or BOston, Kansas, Foreigner. Of course Yes aren't in there either. Basically if you are an arena rock or prog rock band your ass isn't in there. There are some exceptions for both though. I'm just glad that RUsh and Deep Purple have...
I had a couple of k-tel albums but not that MB one.
I'm a pretty big MB fan even though I only saw them live once which was in 1988 with Jack Bruce(of Cream fame)opening up. I remember them doing most of their well known songs as well as "talking out of turn" and "new horizons" which I thought...
