Class of '86...
I was a metalhead in high school, so obviously there's a whole ton of songs from that genre that remind me, but there's two non metal songs in particular that make me feel like I've boarded the Delorean back to the mid 80's.
And don't ask me why, but this song always stops...
I don't really connect with Sym X, but I'm obviously a huge Iron Maiden/Dream Theater fan.
Helloween is definitely melodic. They're not progressive, but they are all excellent players and have some interesting arrangements.

Yeah, it looks like a German compilation with the Helloween and Gamma Ray guys, among others..Henne Basse, etc..
Even as far back as junior high, even the schools were playing School's Out over the speakers on the last day.
For the record, that is an amazing album, even though the title track was it's only pick on the original Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits.
Just a phenomenal album.
I remember being extremely disappointed with Blue Murder when it came out, both with the songs and John's vocals.
I revisited it when he passed away and I thought it actually aged very well.
So, I owe Ozzy and Black Sabbath an apology. Watching the clips throughout the day, this looked like a tremendous event. Really well organized and aesthetically beautiful with the Back To The Beginning backdrop.

It’s possible I’m misremembering. Perhaps it was available in other countries before the US release. I guess I’m not sure now.

I don't have an answer on why it it wasn't successful. My only guess is that the David Wayne fans were willing to give Blessing In Disguise a chance, but perhaps were not convinced by Mike Howe. Not sure how you couldn't be.
