Count me in as a massive fan of Cheap Trick. Sadly, I've only seen them live once back in 1988 when they opened for Robert Plant at the Providence Civic Center.
My series The Cassette Chronicles kicks off its ninth year with a look back at the 1991 Savatage masterpiece Streets: A Rock Opera. You can check it out via this Limelight Magazine.com link.
I picked up the Rik Emmett solo CD Absolutely and the Stone Fury album Let Them Talk on cassette today. The latter will become an article in my Cassette Chronicles series down the road.
It is an extremely rare occurrence when I like a harsh or cookie monster vocal. So yeah, those ones weren't even going to get a 2nd glance.
I'm glad you liked the DiAnno album. I've never gotten into his stuff post-Maiden.
Cool that we have Judas Priest in common. The Moggs Motel and Riot V albums were on my buy/listen to list but I never got around to more than the first song they put out a video clip for.
My Top 11 rock and metal CDs of 2024 are:

HAMMERFALL
Avenge the Fallen
Nuclear Blast Records - 2024
My music collection does contain a couple of HammerFall albums including the Legacy of Kings album which I absolutely love. But I think it would be fair to describe me as pretty much a casual fan...at best.
Then a couple years ago, I...
SAXON
Hell, Fire and Damnation
Silver Lining Music - 2024
With the addition of Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler to the lineup, Saxon has once again turned up the volume for their 24th studio album Hell, Fire and Damnation.
The opening track "The Prophecy" is just under 2 minutes long and...
Like Catfish, I listen to an album in full when writing a review. I'll be posting my review of the Saxon album Hell, Fire and Damnation here on the CRF in a bit.
BRUCE DICKINSON
The Mandrake Project
BMG - 2024
The Mandrake Project, the seventh solo album from Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, has taken a long and winding road with me since it was originally released back in March.
While I'm a fan of both his solo work and Iron Maiden, the first...
Accept
Humanoid
Napalm Records - 2024
With the immediate intro for the song "Diving into Sin" providing a cinematic vibe, the Accept album Humanoid gets off to quite the dramatic start.
After that opening, the more forceful metallic pacing kicks in and gives both the song and the listener a...
Sorry to see him go but at 72 years old and coming off some serious medical issues, I can't hold his retirement against him. 42 years is a good damn long run.
The band has announced Simon Dawson from Steve Harris's British Lion band as their new touring drummer.
They aren't always straight up reviews. If I have stories that tie into the album or something related to when the album came out, then I tell a story as well as put in some minor thoughts about the music as well. Or when someone has passed away, I might write about an album they were a part of...
Did you ever listen to the Reverence albums? I heard one of them and it was my first experience listening to Todd Michael Hall. Oddly enough, I really didn't care too much for that album.
The Cassette Chronicles #258 - Great White - S/T (This is the final article of the year. A Best of 2024 piece will be up next week. And in great news, the series has been renewed for another year!)
I'm a big fan of Bob Seger and have a lot of his material. There's so much good music to choose from and I'm glad that there's actually still some for me to discover once I (if I) complete my collection.
