For some reason Roxy made me think of these two bands...2 old favorites,
'The Cutter'- Echo and the Bunnymen (from Porcupine)
'Love Song' -Simple Minds (from Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call)
ian played some Roxy above and it made me want to play some old Roxy........I always preferred it when they rocked out with energy. Later Ferry wanted to be a 'pop star' and the band suffered imho from his personal needs.
Two great oldies when Roxy was.....Roxy.
Thrill Of It All
Both Ends...
'Cats Eye/yellow Fever'- Van Der Graaf Generator (1977) one of the weirdest prog bands from the 70's led by Peter Hammill
I got the yellow fever from the cat's eye
I 've only ever listened to 2 'Christian' rockers.....that I know of.....one from each.....
'Over My Head'- Kings X ( they have denied the term Christian rock yet many think they are in that vein)
'TEmple of the LIving God'- Neal Morse (he used to be in Spocks Beard but left...presumably to...
From Discogs......
US American rock group from Detroit, Michigan who issued one album on the Motown subsidiary Rare Earth label in 1972. The group chose to record the album at Olympic Studios, which led Billboard magazine to erroneously conclude that the group was British. The album didn't sell...
Harrison is an awesome drummer.....and of course Wilson writes wonderfully weird rock songs.....probably Wilson and PT are my favorite modern prog rock artist/ band.
A favorite by CSN....great anti war song.....
I can see by your coat my friend you're from the other side
There's just one thing I've got toKnow, can you tell me please, who won
It doesn't get much heavier than this in the realm of fusion.....one of my all time favorite lps.
Mahavishnu Orchestra- 'Vital Transformation'.....from Inner Mounting Flame (1971)
Like both.....Green's version was of course more about the blues , but Santana did a very good polished radio friendly version that bled into Gypsy Queen by Gabor Szabo ...an Hungarian jazz guitarist.
Going with Santana for that reason but lets not forget Peter Green wrote it.
This came out in 2023.....the only band I listen to that has captured the old classic sound and done it right imho...I have always thought they should be huge. Their sound is melodic yet heavy and pure classic rock most of the time with some blues and R & B mixed in.
