    Led Zeppelin (Official Thread)

...very nice and clean looking copy. I have two versions of it both US one original and the other a late 70's reissue. Also have a Japanese pressing that I have not played to this day. :)

Best Buy Pulls The Plug On CDs

I've purchased on occasion CD's off Best Buy...at least the ones that are their editions only with extra tracks or supplemental discs. Usually I get them off Amazon.

    Tell us about your stereo!

Subbed in a Denon DVD-3800 as a CD transport... Was using a Marantz CD5000 prior. Big difference between the two. The Denon was sharper, cleaner, with more fleshed out sonics. The Marantz wasn't terrible by comparison but it was fuzzier and recessed. Could be that the former has a better laser...

Jimmy Page Says Unheard Led Zeppelin Songs Coming Next Year

When the re-issues came out, speculation that Page even confirmed that the band's archives have been trawled and not much was left. A few unreleased tracks here and there plus remixes which were pretty similar to the final versions. I gander that whatever is being released will have to be a live...

Bruce Springsteen Breaks His Record for Longest U.S. Show Twice in One Week

There are multiple CD sets out on bootleg from the early part of his tour. 24 gigs at last count. All stereo soundboards. Would buy 'em if I had the $$$. I don't doubt the shows you saw will be out soon...unofficially that is.

    Review Coverdale*Page - Coverdale*Page (1993)

Have it on vinyl and CD... My copy of the LP is in fine shape being a British pressing too. Hunted down the cassette as well.

Led Zeppelin In Through the Out Door album cover variants

Pick sixes... It is only notable if you are an ardent follower of the group, I guess. If not, it isn't a big deal. Decades ago, I lucked out on a flea market seller that had all six for sale. Just the jackets themselves with promo stamps on them. No LPs or inner sleeves. Since then, I...

    Tell us about your stereo!

Taped Up... Hi Jim... Cassette decks are cool if you find one that is fully functional. The Akai I picked up months ago is doing great. Love those meters... I saw a Revox unit on eBay this past year. It was refurbished with new parts, with some upgraded and cleaned all over. Sold for less...

Sounds from the rear... Simply nice... Basic but sometimes you can get the most out of the most stripped down set-ups.

    Tell us about your stereo!

Ear to Ear... Hi Phil. The AKG is very good for a mid-priced model. It took some time for it to loosen up. It is well balanced. Senns were my first phones. Not as bulky as this AKG but did not block out noise as well. Earbuds are OK only for me when I use them with my Ipod at the gym or...

Stones 1972 ...the last few evenings. Very good to excellent soundboards from various locations during their 1972 North American Tour. Still have discs 6 and 7 to go. Mick Taylor then was a heck of a soloist. Thought of sax man Bobby Keys. There is also a rollicking version of Uptight [with...

The most important member of Led Zeppelin?

Grant ^Grant also helped established how much the performing artists should take home instead of the promoters that did not sweat it out onstage. Something like 90 to 10 in the musician's favor. With him at the helm...all the band had to worry about was the music. He oversaw the contracts...

    popular bands that you hate

EC was... I liked Clapton's guitar work with Cream. His 70's work weren't too bad but as mentioned he was not into fret-board pyrotechnics. The 80's were more pop-oriented fare.
