The heir apparent to SkyDog's throne....

Derek Trucks

As much as I respect Derek Truck's ability to play, I can honestly say I don't care much for his solo work. He sounds better when blended in with other quality band members like with the Allman Bothers.

I agree to a certain extent but have you heard his most recent album "Down in the Flood", to me that is the first one where they really sound like a band rather than just a showcase for his playing.

Ry Cooder for me, I've always liked his ability to play any style and pull it off.

@Rocker440

The lead guitar player in Foghat was Rod Price.. Lonesome Dave played some lead guitar but mostly rythym and he was the main vocalist.

:) That is good to know. Both Lonesome Dave and Rod Price were fantastic guitar players, imo. The original Foghat was one of the hardest working, touring bands of the 1970's! They are one of my favorite bands, with many great songs as well as music!

It is also great to see that there are many fans of guitarists that use the slide, and with quite a lot of different favorites, too.
