A truly great British blues/rock band during there own time and in the 45 years since there demise.

Probably my all time favourite track of there's is WISHING WELL I remember hearing it being played on BBC radio 1 back in 1973 when it was in the British singles charts and thought it was really good rock song anyway these days whenever I hear that song I usually think of Paul Kossoff who I believe the song was about.

Free - Goin' Down Slow

 really digging this track, I think this is the first time that I've heard this song by Free. Plenty of other blues musicians over the years, but this one is new to me. :)

I have all there albums plus the x5 cd box set called Songs Of Yesterday Day and also at onetime back in the early 2000s I had a large hardback copy of the book called Heavy Load written by one of there big fans David Clayton although I haven't got the book anymore.

Favourite track Wishing Well.

Surprisingly and from memory a small number of black male & female R&B/soul artist's rated the band back in the early 1970s.

Cool live performance of Mr Big from 1970:

It's so sad that the ONLY song you'll ever hear from this incredible band on the radio is "All Right Now". They had so many other great tunes outside of that one tune.

Been listening again to possibly the greatest blues/rock band to ever come out of Britain FREE.

Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke, Andy Fraser & Paul Kossoff aka 'Koss'

I especially have always liked Free Live from 1970 which was recorded at Croydon in south London and in Sunderland where the band enjoyed a large following in the north east of England no doubt in part due to Paul Rodgers coming from that part of England.

Free Live from 1970-

1.All Right Now
2.I'm A Mover
3.Be My Friend
4.Fire And Water
5.Ride On A Pony
6.Mr.Big
7.The Hunter (Albert King song)
8.Get Where I Belong (studio recording)

The re-mastered cd version bonus tracks-
9.Woman
10.Walk In My Shadow
11.Moonshine
12.Trouble On Double Time
13.Mr.Big
14.All Right Now (a slightly heavier version than the first but 'Koss' is a bit out on a couple of guitar lines so it was obviously passed over in favour of the other live version).

All in all a satisfying listen from start to finish.

***Personal memories of hearing Free on BBC radio one between 1970-73 especially All Right Now, Little Bit Of Love, My Brother Jake & Wishing Well***

The lands of Marshall Stack.
Reminds me of Summer School holidays and listening to Johnny Walker at lunchtime 'pop the question'....
Taken from the collection Songs Of Yesterday.
Wishing Well ( alternative cut.)
