Highway Star.. Smoke is good but I get sick listening to the riff over and over and over again. Highway Star is a better song in general

Smoke on the Water is a LOT more amazing than people give it credit for, specifically the guitar parts. Not the into riff that everyone on earth knows, but the other nuances throughout the song and specifically the structure of the solo. I really like Highway Star, but if I'm only going to listen to one of these songs, it'll be Smoke, 99x out of 100.

Also, it's a cool story, especially the fact that it's true.

Machine Head is definitely one of my all-time favourite albums and I love both songs, but my vote has to go to Highway Star, which I've always considered to be the album's best track. The song's relentless energy and outstanding organ and guitar solos make it a stone cold classic and a thrilling listen from start to finish to my ears.

Highway Star for me (I hardly play Smoke on the Water at home). Smoke on the Water made a huge impact when first heard and has secured Ritchie Blackmore's Pension. However Highway Star has that electricity, punch and that iconic solo which launched a lot of those heavy metal lead guitarists. For me this song can be played a lot more often and still posses this excitement (or maybe I have been a teenager all my life in denial!):gg:
