I drifted in here by sort of accident: I was looking for lists of songs over 6 minutes long, and google linked me to a 2010 thread on this forum.

I was sitting an a seedy bar drowning my sorrows in the bottom of a beer that I bought with my last dollar, surrounded by rough looking men with more tattoos than teeth, keeping my head down to avoid eye contact with any of them. I was scrolling through various questionable sites on my trusty flip phone when Classic Rock Forums came up as a suggestion on one of the most iniquitous of those derelict pages, i figured there was nothing more to lose so I may as well throw caution to the wind and enter this dark place ;)

'Random' search for rock forum I think, on Google - looking for somewhere to chat about music in general (though largely 'classic' rock [whatever that is?!]). Haven't properly found my way around yet and posted a few comments in the wrong places!
There's an element of us just all posting our favourite stuff - which, we must agree is very subjective - i.e. we all especially like the stuff that was released when we were in our late teens....
Also, posting at the end of long threads - there's always the feeling that what you're saying / listing has been said before.
That said, I've had a few 'likes' so cant be doing too badly!
Does anyone know, are our 'likes' kept within the site - or are they seen externally, by advertisers, etc?

Yeah you are correct darklands with all what you have posted but in particular to posting about 'what we like ourselves' because I have a subconscious tendency to regard my taste in rock music as superior to everyone else ha ha ha... that statement made me laugh.

With regards to what is 'classic rock' I personally would say classic rock started around 1966 and finished around 1976 a 10 years period where all my favourite rock & blues/rock bands and artists established themselves most of which were bringing out new albums during the rest of the 1970s, 1980s & 1990s.

Without meaning to offend anyone on the forum bands like U2, Radiohead, Oasis, Blur and dozens more like them don't mean nothing to me as I've no interest in any of them.

Not true in my case..i would say i have learnt and have been introduced and re-introduced to many bands and artists..via site members such as Arkie, doswizard and Vader. So many album purchases have been made by myself due to these guys.
I post stuff i like, stuff i don't and stuff i have only just found. I am ' a sponge' and view this place as a seat of learning...to which i am a pupil...so not a Teacher!!
