R.I.P. to the best drummer that ever drummed, not to mention one of the best lyricists. Maybe the only one that actually needed a massive drum kit like he used.
We knew he had health issues that forced him to retire, but this just plain sucks.
This is the sort of stuff that will always leave me in awe of this man. I've long admited that I'm not much of a Rush fan, but that's not at all due to Peart. The man was the greatest rock drummer in history. What gets me even more is if you watch any of the Buddy Rich or Gene Kupra tribute stuff that he did. A lot of people may not be aware of the versatility of some of the great jazz drummers... Neil had all of that and the ability to be the single greatest rock drummer as well.
The music world is a better place for having had him in it. The influence he has had on others is immeasureable.
