Back in the mid 1980s a load of Isley Brothers US import vinyl albums showed up in the Virgin record store in London which I bought at that time. Regarding there albums I especially like the 3+3 band that included Ernie, Marvin & Jasper from 1973 through to 1983. I am not naturally a 'soul music guy' some of it's alright but I am really a rock music guy but I do like there mixture of rock/soul inspired albums. An early live album of there's that is worth listening to is the Isley's Live double-album from early 1973 just prior to 3+3 album release in 1973 but the Isley's Live album featured Ernie, Marvin & Jasper and sounds great with good production values like your standing right in front of the band at a live gig and also includes some great songs on that album such as Hendrix's Machine Gun/Neil Young's Ohio plus Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay and a great cover of Carole King's It's To Late with Ernie sounding very much like Jimi Hendrix on this album.

I think between those who post in this thread that myself and Nai are probably the only two who have been club DJ's . as in dance clubs. I mastered the art of vinyl mixing and not sure if Nai did the same but nowday's it's all digital mixing with programs to do most of the work. It's old school at most. I still spin and mix on my set up.
Ok.. now I do like rock as well.. Most of my stuff in my collection is vinyl. I like retro rock. I have alot of hard to find albums from the 60's and 70's 80's so forth. Then the CD thing happened which I hated because the sound was good but the stuff printed was so hard to read. Plus.. CD's have their issues as well with skipping or having problems. If you record songs on cassettes or Cd' s there is always that bumble that ****** you off if your going for a clean no scratch or skip CD or tape..Maybe off the subject of the Isley's, but just wanted to sound off on the matter..

Another soul/rock/funk drummer that I really like and I have most of the cds that are currently available that features his material although there isn't that much that has been released is Buddy Miles ex Electric Flag ex The Buddy Miles Express ex Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys ex Santana.

I believe Buddy released an album that feature himself with Bootsy Collins on bass & Eddie Hazel on guitar a power trio thing back in the mid 1990s which I have a vague feeling I had at onetime but I must have sold it?.

A sad day when I heard that Buddy had passed away back in 2008.

The lands of Marshall Stack.
By far my fave Stones line-up of wingmen.
Ollie Brown, Billy Preston, Ian McClagan and Bobby Keyes and Stu!
Ronnies riff is still funky and a great workout..beats noodling.
Rolling Stones - Hey Negrita.
