Songwriters Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby have formed a new supergroup: The Highwomen. Their self-titled debut album is out September 6 via Low Country Sound/Elektra. It features guests including Miranda Lambert, Jason Isbell, Sheryl Crow, Tanya Tucker, Lori McKenna, and more.

This is their remake of the Highwaymen’s Theme Song. Carlile and Shires not only received the blessing of the song’s writer Jimmy Webb (who recorded his own version in 1977), they also enlisted him in reworking the lyrics!

That's Yola doing the verse about the freedom rider.
