Re: Manowar

I have three of their CD's, but I haven't played them for ages....I like these guys but they do make me smile when I listen to some of their lyrics, and the stage costumes are funny as well, but they are a legend in the Heavy Metal world so they are okay in my book.

Sweaty you beat MP to these guys,,,

Re: Manowar

I also have everything by MANOWAR and I was going to start a thread on them so props to you Sweaty!!! :grinthumb

I really love how they all progressed over time.

Actually...not bragging here...but MANOWAR fans will dig this.

Pat who I play with in CATALANO used to be in the Dave Shankle Gruop, more commonly known as DSG...:grinthumb

Dave Shankle replaced Ross The Boss after the Kings Of Metal album and was with the band for the Triumph of Steel album.

I'll let Pat fill you in on other stories if he wishes.

For their 25th anniversary they did Earthshaker in Germany and included all past and present members including Ross The Boss,Shankle,Rhino and original drummer for the first album Donnie Hamzik.

Members were brought up to re-create songs they played on the album/s they were a part of and all 6 members came out at the end for a BOMBASTIC finale of Battle Hymns!

Check it!

Battle Hymn

Pat is still buddies with Dave and they talk all the time.

At one of our recent shows Dave Shankle and guitar hero Dave Urich introduced us.

Re: Manowar

The first Manowar album I bought, and the one I play the most, 1984's Hail to England. I dug this one out after reading Sweaty's thread, brings back some great memories.

Blood of my Enemies.

Re: Manowar

I always remember going into the local record shop and getting them to play the just arrived 1st album "battle hymns". I was a big Ross the boss fan loving his earlier work with..THE DICTATORS...and SHAKIN STREET....After 2 heavy notes from the first track..i said " Take it off...IM HAVIN IT!!!"

Re: Manowar

Blood of My Enemies!! Right on LG!!

Yeah I don't think many people realize that Ross The Boss from the Dictators is the same RTB from Manowar. Mark "The Animal" Mendoza from Twisted Sister was also a Dictator. :grinthumb

Here's another one I dig from Hail To England!!

Re: Manowar

Manowar is without a doubt one of my favorite true metal bands. They may be cheesy in a lot of people eyes but I only judge a band on the quality of the music they produce. One of the greatest live acts I have ever seen and I have seen A LOT !!
