Bruce Springsteen’s first new studio album in five years takes his music to anew place, drawing inspiration in part from the Southern California pop records of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. The album was recorded primarily at Springsteen’s home studio in New Jersey, with additional recording in California and New York. Columbia Records will release Springsteen’s 19th studio album on June 14. Western Stars will be available for pre-order on Friday, April 26.

“This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements," says Springsteen. "It's a jewel box of a record."

The 13 tracks of Western Stars encompass a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.

Western Stars Song Titles:

1. Hitch Hikin'
2. The Wayfarer
3. Tucson Train

Looking forward to some new Bruce!

Me too. The titles of the songs on Western Stars are intriguing. Hope the album is in the same category of greatness as Born To Run, Rubber Soul, Pet Sounds, Honky Tonk Heroes (Waylon) and L.A. Woman.

Hope I'm not breaking any rules mentioning a "hick-music" album on Classic Rock Forums. ;) Have I told you guys that "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" is my favorite Springsteen song?

Never personally got into 'the boss' and his records although I have got the Darkness On The Edge Of Town cd and that double or triple cd of material recorded around the time of the Darkness On The Edge Of Town sessions but over the last year or so I have been wanting to listen to Bruce's albums and I keep looking at Born In The USA which I know was a big selling album and also The River which I don't know anything about except that it's a double cd and was released in 1980 and there is a good picture of Bruce on the cover.

I like Hello Sunshine but not crazy about There Goes My Miracle. A video is coming out for Tucson Train. But what I'm really looking forward to is the future E Street album coming out.
