This is a question for those old enough to go to gigs when bands had proper amps and stacks. None of this satellite rubbish.
So which gig made you guys the most deaf
Without a doubt my middle age hearing loss is down to some incredibly loud gigs
For me it's a toss up between Mororhead around 80 and Sheffield City Hall and budgie at romeo and juliets Doncaster same year.
If pushed I'd go for the budgie gig
They had stacks everywhere. It was a low roof and budgie had more stacks than people there
Shelly had his vox stack, jt had three marshall stacks. The monitors were bigger than shelly
They came on around 2am and we were pickled. Of course. They kept turning it up.
At the end the whole lot literally blew up on stage. The amps not the band. The flash and explosion wins out over Mororhead.
I was deaf for weeks after.
Please share your noise memories

Aerosmith, summer of 1978, Houston Texas. The midst of their drug years, Joe Perry's guitar was turned up so loud you couldn't hear anything else. My ears rang for 3 days, my older brother had a headache for the next day or so.

The only upside was their 2 opening acts were terrific, some no name bands people weren't aware of, ummmmmm........what were their names.......oh, yeah, some Australian band named AC/DC and a band from San Francisco called Journey.

April Wine!

I saw them in a small club using their arena PA. It was so loud I had to put toilet paper in my ears (and I'm used to loud).

AC/DC "Highway To Hell" North American Tour 1979.

My ears rang for three days.

I do remember thinking about Angus, "what are these guys on?", lol. He didn't stop shaking his head all night long. I also thought "How can this guy handle that? I know I sure can't do that without getting dizzy". I also remember Angus jumping down from the top of the amplifiers.

Been to many loud shows, but the two that stick out the most to me are:

Ratt - Feb 1989 - Third row, left center side of the stage. Couldn't hear much of anything but ringing out of my left ear for 3 days after that one.

KISS - Sept 2010 - Ears rang for a couple of days after that one. Far and away the loudest KISS show I've been to.

Ted Nugent with Cactus 1974. Michigan Tech up in Houghton at the hockey arena. Place was maybe 1/3 full. I stood 20 feet in front of Ted.
