There's something funky going on with the site right now (and has been for at least the last hour or more). Browsing via a browser on a desktop system (not mobile) and multiple posts that I've tried to make just don't post. The other thing that is happening is the browser window isn't showing that it has actually posted when it does. There will be a little animated icon showing up in the upper right corner of the screen that just keeps "spinning", but doesn't do anything. If I open a new browser or new tab, I can see that the post actually completed. The same thing goes with trying to go into my "Inbox" or "Alerts" links.

I've seen this sort of behavior in the past, but it is usually short lived and/or just a one-time thing. This has been going on for at least an hour that I am aware of.

FYI.
Nothing is gonna jam up my Desktop...Fact.

Facity fackt fak.

Shit happens.

I don't know why. Never stopped me. I'll never stoop to that level of believing what other computer are doing.

This tells me to slow down; not stop. ;)

A mere bump in the road.

Simple maintenance on your PC goes a long way.

If you're not tech savy enough to do it on your own; I thought I might offer some 1 click cures.

Ccleaner & Gu5 are outstanding free software.

When I said "Don't ever update".

That was ment for Ccleaner..if you do, you'll update to a 14 day paid full trial version. If you don't pay it doesn't work.

Free shit comes with it's flaws.

Don't update Ccleaner and it's free for life!

You can send me bitcoin for that info.

xD

Doubt if the problem is anyone's PC. I'm about 99% sure it's a server problem is more than one user is experiencing a slowdown.

But if you want to speed up your PC, Process Lasso will help. It sped mine up immensely and it's free to use if you don't mind a 10 second nag on startup about purchasing a license.

I participate in a lot of sites. This one does tend to load more slowly than most. But then this site has far more useless, gratuitous and slow-loading graphic images than most other sites. It's one thing to post a slow-loading GIF or image to make a comment in a thread. But consider how many people have HUGE GIFs or images in their taglines for every single post, even when their post is only a word or two. Those have to download every freaking time there's a post on a page. That slows things down.

Pogo was right. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

If you clear your browser cache often, as I do, then graphics may load a bit slower. Otherwise it shouldn't be an issue.

Is that still a thing? I haven't had to worry about that since the days of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer.

This is the #1 reason that I have signatures turned off. (hell, I may even still have one myself, I wouldn't know as I never see them).

We had sig limits on a couple of the sites that I used to admin at. Sig filesize had limits as did dimensions.

If you can fit your shit into a space this big (look at me, the space between my fingers), then you can have your sig. If it's the dimensions are too big, shrink it or find something else. If the filesize is too big, shrink it or find something else.

I'd have no problem with that sort of rule around here, but I have nothing to do with that side of this site anymore.

Bottom line, you CAN disable seeing people's sig files and I will guarantee you that you'll be able to browse faster on a constant basis (except when the site is crapping in it's own shorts).

This is the image that appears at the bottom of every single post you make. proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2Fekp9gsN.png

Is it just me, or is putting a 29.5K meme that was funny once but that doesn't retain its humor after many, many, MANY repeat viewings at the bottom of every single post or reply, and then telling everyone else if they don't want to have to wait for that 29.5K image to load, they can just adjust their settings kind of rude and selfish? Throw a joke meme in once or twice when it's appropriate? That's one thing. Put the same meme at the bottom of every single post and reply, and isn't that a different thing?

I'm not picking on any one individual. This particular example was close at hand and easy to respond to. There are lots and lots of other examples.
