Is there -
really- a side 1 and side 2 on a CD?
The way I burn cds, yes, there are two "sides".
For years I was content listening to cds "as is", but a few years ago I began thinking about how much better I might enjoy listening to a cd if it had a distinct Side 1 and a Side 2 -- just like the albums did that I enjoyed listening to back in high school.
So a couple of years ago I went on a kick to re-burn most of my cds to match its album format. For the last track on Side 1 I then add a 30 second audio clip of silence to simulate the time it took someone to flip the record over before Side 2 begins. I know it sounds kooky, but now when I listen to a cd this way, it's almost as if I'm listening to the record album once again. (only without the snap, crackle and pop)
Of course this also gives me the freedom to move tracks around from the original album's sequence, which I will do if it helps improve the overall flow or vibe of the album.
So basically I'm like BASF. I don't make the cds. I make the cds better.
