Just like some of the Coasters' records,"Book Of Love",and Danny and the Junior's "At The Hop",this one smacks of 1950's early rock contagiousness that will always stand as highly symbolic of the times' relatively innocent teen attitudes.Simpler music from simpler times, but not so simple as to detract from its inherent pleasures............

That Drifters song sadly seems to be fading from more well deserved prominence in the classic pop fan's realm, but one thing can NEVER change. The fact that it was the first major R&B recording to feature strings.A first is a first.Always and for all time.................

Here's a few uncommon sides I enjoy...

The Jets - Soul Dinner (1963)

The Blanders - Jitterbug (195?)

The Hollywood Flames - Strollin' On The Beach (1958)
These cats of course had a huge hit with Buzz, Buzz, Buzz but this wild and untamed cut is pretty rare and can go for quite a bit of cash...under a hundred bucks but still and all...

The Electras - Little Girl of Mine (1966)
10 years after the original hit by the Cleftones released in 1956...the Electras did this cover of it. It's from 1966 but it surprisingly still retains the Doo Wop flavor this late in the game albeit with a bit more power behind it.

Waking up a really good thread..
Doo Wop is another ROOT origin genre of modern day rock..
It is the basic idea of rock music without all the added electronics.
