Which of the 18 studio albums do you think is the best?

I think that Judas Priest found his own style in 1976 with his album Sad Wings of Destiny, which for me is his best album.

One thing that I like a lot is that all Judas Priest albums sound different,
but somehow they never lose that sound that makes Judas unique.

I own every single album and multiple copies/formats of most of them (ie: vinyl, cassette, CD). Right off the top of my head, it would be tough for me to pick an absolute, no-question-about-it favorite album. Love them all and listen to them all on a fairly regular basis.

I guess if someone pointed a gun to my head and said "you have 5 seconds to choose one", I'd probably go with Screaming For Vengeance. That was probably the album that turned me into a 100% true-blue fan for life.

Agreed I like Sad Wings Of Destiny and I also have a liking for Ram It Down as well. Personally I tend to prefer the late 1970s-1980s era stuff.

Over here in Britain the album British Steel was a significant release to many British heavy metal fan's coming out when it did during the first half of 1980 when heavy metal was enjoying a resurgents of popularity in Britain by bands like Iron Maiden, Samson & Angel Witch along with the rise of the rest of the NWOBHM movement during the early 1980s.

The quintessential Priest albums for me are definitely Sad Wings of Destiny and Screaming for Vengeance, but my personal favorite is Painkiller

My favorite too..

I know a lot of fans prefer "Screaming For Vengeance" and while I've heard that album as well I can't help but feel that "British Steel" is overall the better and definitely the more enjoyable album for me. There is a more fun and dare I say it commercial element to many of the tracks here but if given a choice between the two I feel I'd much rather listen to this album for my occasional metal fix. I like all the tracks a lot and not just the popular "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight" as tracks like "Steeler", "Grinder" and "United" are also strong and overall this album has a nice flow about it.

In the Breaking The Law video does anyone (probably British rock fans?) know who the guy who plays the security guard who gets hold of a inverted flying V cardboard cut out guitar and starts giving it some rock shapes along to Breaking The Law??. The actors face was a familiar one around 1980.
