The Dead Kennedys were an American hardcore punk band, formed in San Francisco, California in 1978.
Their music mixed the more experimental elements of British 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. Dead Kennedys' songs mixed deliberately shocking lyrics with satirical and sarcastic criticism of social and political issues of the Reagan era.

The Dead Kennedys released five studio albums before officially disbanding in 1986. In 2001, the band reformed without original singer Jello Biafra, who had been in a legal dispute with the other members over royalties, before going on indefinite hiatus in 2008. Biafra has gone on to be a spoken word performer, covering political topics in particular, since the dissolution of the Dead Kennedys.

Glad someone else made a thread for this band. That means I don't have to. ;) :heheh:

I really like Jello Biafra's distinctive, shaky vibrato style of singing and East Bay Ray's really original style of playing and tone. Of late 70's and 80's punk bands The Dead Kennedys are among my favorites.

I was going to make a thread on this thank you for saving me some time haha.

My favorite punk band with out question. Jello was the band with out him they are nothing IMO, but as a band I do not think any punk band was as intelligent or dangerous as them.

That whole trial for Frankenchrist really ****ed them.

Probably one of the better punk bands that came out in the 80s. I think it's just me, but I really didn't like the 80s punk scene.

I expected this thread to be quite big really but there were hardly any posts.
I like them. Wonder why people don't held them in same regard as Sex Pistols.

Their debut album is probably their seminal work. They only have few studio albums 4 or 5.
Here's my favourite from their debut album:

and this song always makes me really really wonder :)
