Location
It is the middle ground
Last Friday I took my 2005 Gibson R7 (that I bought used and found a former owner did a relic job on it and upgraded to Musicap capacitors) that I had a set of Slash's signature Seymour Duncan pickups and a Tune-o-matic style bridge (Tone Pros) put on - to get speed knobs.

I've had this guitar since November, just over 7 months now.

My new speed knobs.

Aftermarket parts include;

1996 Gibson Custom Shop Red Sparkle Top:
Jim Dunlop Straplock System [citation needed] (a former owner must have put these on).
Seymour Duncan APH-1 Alnico II Pro Humbucker set.

2005 Gibson R7/VOS Gold Top:
Musicap capacitors (a former owner put these on).
Jim Dunlop Straplock System
Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro Slash Signature Humbucker set.
Tone Pros Tuno-o-matic style bridge
-- and last Friday (all other aftermarket parts I had put on within the first 24 hours of owning this guitar back in November/some 7 months ago) -- Speed knobs.

And........... 1979 Vantage VP700 which was made in the old Matsumoku factory in Japan.

I got this for peanuts on ebay and it's totally beat up. It was a wreck when it came to me and cosmetically still is but after cleaning it up and putting some new control knobs on, I plugged it in to Logic and found it has the sweetest sounding pickups, particularly on the "Arena Ready" setting.

It makes my solos sound like Andy Latimer is playing them...! :D:D
