Am I the only one who stopped putting stock in the HOF several years ago?
Nope, I've been bitching about what a piece of shit organization it is for many, many years. I've revered to it as the RnR Hall of Sham for a long time. I only give a shit because there isn't anything else that is in place that is doing a "hall of fame" style for rock and roll. VH1 had a Rock Honors thing that they did for a few years and there was definitely some legitimacy to it, but that ended. There is also a metal awards thing that has been going on for a few years, which also has legitimacy to it, but it's very small scale.
So, I think I can safely say that some of us are just aggrivate by it because the shitbags that run the show over there are clueless, self-important "journalists" ( I use that term VERY loosely ) that have an agenda. When the place first opened back in the 80's, it was legit. It has been losing legitimacy with each passing year for 15-20 years now (maybe more).
Now, we also have a popularity contest in place. That is the ONLY reason that Bon Jovi made it in last year. Some dweeb sitting at his computer can vote 5000 times. I love Bon Jovi, specificially the stuff they did from their first album through the early 90's, but since then, not much. Point is, I love what I love and will NEVER EVER say they deserve to be in the Hall because they've never influenced anyone, ever. IF record sales is the only thing that matters, then so be it, put that above the door. "Hall of Popularity". or make it "Music Hall of Fame - Run by a private group", then allow shit like Madonna, Green Day, etc into the hall.
Bleh. I could go into a year by year list of how bullshit it is, but I don't have the time nor the energy to bother right now.
