I can't believe they picked "The River" as best album of the year, that was a terrible record, I bought it and then gave it away to one of my friends.

These kind of summaries are fun to read, even if I don't put much stock in them.:D

'The River' was a wonderful album. It was a true album about life, with all of its small victories and tragedies. A song like "Point Blank" is as good as songwriting gets. The album both rocked and was poignant at the same time. It was another winner by the greatest live rock 'n roll performer of all time. No one gives better live concerts. Absolutely no one.

^^ Couldn't disagree more (not arguing, just stating my own opinion). Bruce, to me, is one of the single-most overrated guys in the history of modern music. There are only 2 songs on that double album I'd even consider playing on purpose, the rest does absolutely nothing for me (like nearly everything else he's ever done). The best stuff Bruce ever wrote were songs that were remade by another guy/band that sounded infinitely better as remakes. Wouldn't go see him in concert if someone gave me free tickets. Can't stand his voice, although if he'd stop singing and the rest of the band just played the songs, that I might be able to sit through.

As far as no one gives better live shows, I could name rattle of a very long list of bands/artists that put on better shows. Better sounding, better stage show, better lighting, better musicians...

Again, just my opinion. Not saying either of us is right or wrong. Just an opinion.

As far as the list goes, putting Bruce at #1 is beyond laughable. Much of the album list is sad to look at. Then looking at the other categories and it's not hard to say with absolute certainty, the readers of Creem were NOT particularly bright people.

But in retrospect, that list is definitely entertaining to look at, in some spots.

Creem. Not surprised their lists are as bereft as their magazine.
