There are the famous 50s rockers:Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard....

There are some very underrated rockers that deserve more attention in my opinion. People like Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and the list goes on. These may not be strangers to you guys who are big fans, but I still think they are pretty obscure compared to Elvis.

Share some of your favorite pretty unknown 50s rockers. I'm talking about anything somehow related to Rock And roll and it's variations.

I have been trying to revove a pretty unknown oldies live chat. It's not working so well, but I have contacted the owner and all that. If you're interested join http://www.oldiesmusic.com/chat.htm

If you see a guy by the name JamesDean123 then that's me. I have posted a Carl Perkins playlist on there.

Anyways, thanks for reading

Love to join..thanks for the info....such a s shame we don't have a major oldies station in Boston these days. You can get on YouTube and hear hours and hours of great oldies collection. All those "Super Oldies of the 50's and 60's" albums are available as well as all those wonderful top hits of each year compilations put out by the people at Billboard. So many tunes spring to mind when I think of this rather light era in pop music.Of course, there was a much higher turnover rate on the Billboard Hot 100 due to the many, many more hit songs that were coming out so very often.I'm afraid the pop hit singles creative stable has run exceedingly dry................................

I’m thinking of planning a certain time where everyone joins and talks on the forum. What time works best for you. Keep in mind that we may have European users on there so we need to have something that suits both demographics.

The Phantom. Amazing 50s artist, pretty much the inventor of punk.. His song "Love Me" sounds really heavy for the 50s and is just great! Also, Janis Martin, female rock-and-roller long before the Runaways and other famous later female rockers. She's often referred to as being the "female Elvis".

Probably there are many underrated or even unrecognized artists from this period.Just about zero interest in fringe acts.Just corporations packaging rock music within perfectly structured and commercial specific marketing schemes.Nowadays, not only is there considerable demand for indies, many musicians are even actually producing themselves as well as owning their own record lables. In the 1950's,things weren't exactly 100% artist friendly unless you were one of the heavyweights like an Elvis or Roy Orbison. Many wound up screwed by fly by night business scoundrels literally operating from the trunks of their cars. All this is not to even mention the rampant racism so inherent in the industry system during the Eisenhower years.....................

First saw this guy via 78's up on the wall of Sounds Good Records...another Sun artist you rarely hear today.
His Boogie Woogie Countryman song is kickin'
