Well.
That was certainly extremely depressing.

And sadly Kanye West seems very healthy.

Welcome to the new world.
No more rock and roll.
Bruce Jenner, winner of the decathlon in the 1976 summer Olympics has cut his dick off and become a woman.
Universities have installed crying booths.
This must be what it's like getting old.
Wonderful.

As an old Dude myself, it saddens me to see people my age dying. But, I take comfort in a new generation of hard rocking musicians that still play rock, even if they can't get airplay on the radio. Had Grace Potter been born in 1945, she'd have been right up there with Grace Slick and Janis Joplin.

There are dozens of hard rocking metal bands in Europe, where good music is apparently still appreciated.

At local bars and other live music venues across the country you can find hard-rocking bands with no chance of ever getting a major label recording contract selling their own, self-released rock. You can find lots of great rock (and even more total shit, more's the pity) on sites like Bandcamp.

It's worse than that. Bruce Jenner had his dick removed in order to become a *******.

On the other hand, universities were always weird places, even back in the 60's.

This must be what it's like getting old.
Wonderful.

Yeah, it sucks. Fortunately, they've invented Viagra or it could be even worse.

Well this is hardly equivalent to 747's with band logos on the side.
Artists buying mansions on the french riviera.
Real radio and record stores.
Etc...

Maybe not dead, but at best the undead.
The rotting mortified corpse still shambling around despite no visible signs of actual life.
Somehow the idea of "good music" doesn't seem the same if it doesn't become the soundtrack of people's lives across the globe.
If a fat guy falls in the forest and nobody is there to see it does anybody laugh?

We love our hard rock here in the UK. Well, we kind of invented it...:D

To be fair, having taken a long blues sabbatical from it up until about, well, somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago when I came back to the rockers, I have found quite a few American bands who are (or were - not sure how many are still going) keeping it alive. Bands like Little Caesar, Hogjaw, The Temperance Movement, Chickenfoot, Black Stone Cherry...
Some have a strong country influence, which is perhaps to be expected from your side of the pond, and makes for a more interesting mix sometimes; Cadillac Three springs to mind, and influences in one or two of the above too.

But we never really had that country thing to 'dilute' our hard rock here, even though we keenly adopted the blues way back. We took to the harder end of the electric blues spectrum generally speaking, and this is perhaps what led to our rock having that harder edge.

I mean, there are always exceptions, but I think this is generally about true...???

That's because in Europe they use the Airbus, not the Boeing. Real Rock isn't about mainstream financial success and excess. Real rock is about THE MUSIC.

Well it appears as though I have once again shamelessly hijacked another thread.
Sorry. But as long as we've rocketed off the rails....

It's worse than that. Bruce Jenner had his dick removed in order to become a *******.

It used to be that if a guy wanted to cut off his dick and run around dressed as a woman they'd put him in a padded cell.

I feel sorry for anyone with mental issues.
But people lose sight of the fact that a guy thinking he is a woman trapped in a man's body is a mental illness.
Gender Dysphoria is in the same books of mental issues as Psychosis and Schizophrenia.
If someone thinks they are a pony we don't graft a mane on them and slap on a saddle.
We get them help.
It's no different if they wake up one day thinking they are the queen of England IMO.

I'm not sure what is worse. The fact that they make a hero out of him for his "bravery".
Or that he gets special treatment in things like culpability when his actions result in the death of someone. That is more to do with celebrity.

There might be some great Gregorian chant groups.
It doesn't mean that Gregorian chant music is all the rage.
Rock and Roll once ruled the world.
As it should.
Anything short of that is a reminder of how the mighty have fallen.
