A message from Vivian Campbell

I'm saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned. However, I'm beyond consolation that it's return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while.

I’m still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon.

My apologies.

yup good news!

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, who recently announced that the cancer he has been battling for the last two years had returned again, has now revealed he will be able to avoid radiation treatment and will in fact be able to join his bandmates for almost all of their planned summer tour.

The former Dio guitarist’s doctors have been able to work out a treatment schedule that will allow him to rejoin Def Leppard’s summer tour with Styx and Tesla starting Saturday, June 27 in Birmingham, Alabama. The U.S. leg of that trek begins tomorrow night (June 23) in Tampa, Florida – which would mean that Campbell would only miss two shows. It is suspected, though not confirmed, that Trixter guitarist Steve Brown will stand in on guitar on these dates – a role he filled when Campbell had to miss part of the group’s 2014 tour.

Here is Campbell’s full statement, as posted on his Facebook page:

So, so happy to report that I’ve dodged the bullet of radiation. I was due to start a course that would have sidelined me for most of the first leg of the US tour, but my brilliant doctors have steered me towards an alternative course of treatment that will enable me to rejoin the tour this Saturday night in Birmingham Alabama. Furthermore, they’ve tailored future treatments to accommodate the tour schedule so I won’t have to miss any more shows.
I’m so happy and so indebted to the wonderful physicians who have worked so hard on my behalf to make this happen.
See you Saturday!

This was just crazy to hear. I saw his post on facebook. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma same as Vivian, just last month. Out of nowhere It just showed up. I started chemo last week. This is a messed up disease. Please get checked out regularly. I was in perfect health I lost weight in the past 2 year working out 6 days a week, quit smoking and switched to all organic foods. And this happened to me. bellow is a pic of my before and after. I did that in 2 years and I was a machine. in perfect health. The doctors were confused about my cancer because I had no side effects at all just a lump that formed on my neck it was not there on mothers day and bam the next day it was. Took me a few days before i went to see a doctor then I was in the hospital having test after test and in the end a biopsy proved I had Hodgkins Lymphoma. I did everything to prevent getting sick. I changed my whole life but here we are today I am 44 and I have cancer. PLEASE GET CHECKED. keep up with health.
I started a blog of my day to day fight against cancer is anyone wants to follow feel free. "Into the Darkness" My Battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Very Old! I have been gone a long time. I was diagnosed with Cancer back in 2015. Life took a turn for a while there. Lots of chemo treatments and radiation treatments. It was no fun but I had the fight of my life. But I am now Cancer free! Just happy to be alive and that is all that matters!
