Re: The Runaways Debut

Great band & great album. I am a HUGE fan of the band & have everything they put out (except for that Sandy West solo album...Damn it). Slip, it would be worth it to check out the movie 'Edgeplay' which is a great documentary made in the early/mid 2000's by former bassist Vicki Blue. It is depressing at times but it's pretty wild. All members are interviewed except Joan Jett who refused to give her consent on the movie. The reason Lita's not much in the movie is because there have been an ongoing kind of hatered for years between Lita & Joan Jett's manager. Lita has nothing against Jett just her manager. According to Rolling Stone magazine a couple of years ago Lita claimed Jett's manager Kenny Laguna only offered her 1,500 bucks for the rights to her life story for the Runaways movie which she turned down.

Re: The Runaways Debut

Ok Magic.. Thanks for that.. I sometimes get some of the girl bands mixed up.. I know one of The Donna's died or was it one of the Girlschool members..:confused:

It was one of the Girlschool members, Kelly Johnson, who died of spinal cancer, after six years of painful therapy and treatment of her illness.

The Donnas' Torry Castellano retired from performing and recording because of her shoulder injury.

I'll check out the movie if I can find it around Bucky.. Too bad managers are a holes and seem to try and run things.. God .. where would we be if just band members did all the talking about who get's what.. :wtf:
Really hate the fact that lawyers and managers make decisions sometimes..

I just got this on vinyl in a 300 plus change LP collection. I bought it from my weight training partner ( I also got a top end Pro Audio Technica TT and a LP cabinet to hold my collection in, all for 300 American ).

Anyway, I just played it ...heard it all the way through for the first time. It's not too bad, like it a lot more then I thought I would. Pretty damn good for a punkish type album. Looking it up to find it's value. It's got to be pretty rare in this condition ...EX+ Cover, Near Mint Vinyl. Whatever it's worth I'm gonna hang on to it.

Here it is folks, the beginning of "grrrrl rock"; the angst driven rock of the female. This is the record that influenced an entire world of angry teenage females to express themselves through music. Loud, raucous, rock and roll music. This band was the Rosa Parks for the female rocker. After this record, the female rocker would no longer be riding the back of the bus; in fact, if they cut records anything like this one, they'd be driving it.

Love, love this album!
