Used to have a Technics 55w per channel amp but my hi fi system became obsolete when I discovered what my Audigy PC sound card could do. Play The Beach Boys in a Cathedral or Beethoven in a bathroom, or anything in between. It had so many settings. You could play a classical symphony in simulated concert hall. You could play Rennaisance music is a simulated stone room, just like it would have originally been played. Even after 15 years I still find it both entertaining and amusing. Normally I'm something of a luddite but I make an exception in this case.

However for headphones I use these babies

Audio Techinca ATH M50x, the best headphones I've ever had. Perfect balance, lightweight and durable.

Got a new turntable last night, that I had ordered last week: Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB

View attachment 23728

My old turntable is, well, ooooooold and I've been wanting this turntable for a long time now. Generally, planning to rebuild my whole stereo this year.

Nice, same TT I have but mine is older and doesn't have the USB .

Haven't had a stereo in years.
I miss it lately.
Nostalgia mostly.

Sold my record collection after dragging it around for decades.
Never playing it.
They cleaned up on me. As I recall I let them have 4 milk crates full of LP's for a bargain at the vintage record store.
I was moving and just wanted to pull off the band aid in one pull.

Most of the listening I do is either headphones on the computer or the car stereo.
Tablet with speakers at camp in summer.

Between my left and right speakers...
Subbed in a Denon DVD-3800 as a CD transport... Was using a Marantz CD5000 prior. Big difference between the two. The Denon was sharper, cleaner, with more fleshed out sonics. The Marantz wasn't terrible by comparison but it was fuzzier and recessed. Could be that the former has a better laser tracking component along with larger power supply. Down side is that I've had instances where the Denon would not properly or completely read a disc.

Both are routed through a digital audio selector to a Monarchy Audio 24/96 jitter/re-clocking component to Parasound DAC, tube buffer (love that sound) and finally to my pre-amp in "Bypass" mode.

I mostly listen to music in my car. I don't have much spare money to invest in sound gear, but I do use this a lot.

I don't need one in my wife's Hyundai, as it as a port for a USB thumb drive in the car stereo. My old Kia Sedona doesn't, so I use this. I plugs into the spare 12 volt outlet. I set it to a blank station on the FM dial, and insert a thumb drive full of MP3s into it. I can listen to my favorite music for weeks with no repeats. A pocket full of thumb drives and SD cards gives me loads of content options.

I'm into components; I hate on integrated Fidelity. My best working piece of equipment is a *** Stereo Preamplifier 114

Got my headphones plugged into it right now as a matter of fact, Thanks for the FYI. I love High fidelity.
