I'm gonna keep the history part really short - who reads it, right?

Formed in 1987 as hardcore band Virulence. They changed their name to Fu Manchu in 1990 and started turning more towards stoner-rock.

I've been in love with this band since the early days. They've been an important part of the soundtrack to my life from the 90s and onwards and I still rank them up there among my all-time faves.

Which brings us to the present day, where the band is set to release a brand new album.

Southern Californian hard rockers FU MANCHU release their 12th studio album, "Clone Of The Universe", on February 9, 2018 via their own label At The Dojo Records. The upcoming record will be their first in four years, following the 2014 release of "Gigantoid".

The album was recorded and produced by FU MANCHU and Jim Monroe at The Racket Room in Santa Ana, California, with additional recording by Andrew Giacumakis at Susstudio in Simi Valley, California.

The centerpiece of the album is "Il Mostro Atomico", an 18-minute-8-second side-long epic featuring a special guest performance by Alex Lifeson, guitarist and songwriter of the legendary band RUSH

"Clone Of The Universe" track listing:

01. Intelligent Worship (3:08)
02. (I've Been) Hexed (2:48)
03. Don't Panic (2:05)
04. Slower Than Light (3:26)
05. Nowhere Left To Hide (4:19)
06. Clone Of The Universe (2:58)
07. Il Mostro Atomico (18:08)

On a side note, the band recently reissued "California Crossing" on triple vinyl (Red, blue & yellow).

The first record includes the previously unreleased demo's for the original album. Including 3 unreleased songs and different arrangements on the other songs. This was recorded and mixed by Jim Rota / Fireball Ministry.
The second record offers the pre-production demo version of the entire original release, these versions are a lot more raw sounding than the final release. Matt Hyde recorded and mixed these. Including 'Planet Of The Ape Hangers', which was only released on the Japanese edition.
The third record is the 2002 Mammoth Records album, newly remastered for a heavier sound specifically for this vinyl only release.

I can't recommend this release highly enough.

Saw them last May in Raleigh, NC in a small, dive club with about 200 people. Had been waiting for them to come to the east coast. They closed the show with Il Mostro Atomico and I stood there mesmerized. Hadn't had that feeling at a show in quite a while. I'm a huge fan.
