try this

I could list a number of bands, but I really don't see a pattern in your likes/dislikes of music, so I have no idea. Try this podcast. It plays everything from synth prog to metal prog and everything in between. I am sure you can find something you like somewhere in there. https://soundcloud.com/progkast

My favorite prog rock genre is british (but also italian) prog from the early 70s and my favorite bands of that era are along Genesis, Gentle Giant, Yes, Jethro Tull, ELP, PFM. Banco, also UK, and the like. My recommendations reflect the above:

I would strongly recommend listening to Promenade and their album "Noi al dir di noi", starting with the song "Il Secondo Passo", perhaps. My favorite track is "Athletics" but that is really a marathon at a sprint pace, maybe too much to start with. It will probably sweep you away as it did to me. But the whole album is great...

They are a new band, coming from Genoa, Italy, with young and very talented musicians, playing and creating high quality progressive music, with a highly coherent and very well played sound, without trying to sound like other bands, but making complex arrangements, intertwining classic influences with jazz rock ambiances that create surprisingly good melodic and intelligent music. It is always great to discover great music from young bands in this day and age.

Being from Portugal, I would also recommend Amber Foil.

It is a one-man ambitious project, from a young portuguese guy with the help of some portuguese musicians, old-timers. Portugal has not a strong tradition in prog (or in any kind of music, I would say) so it takes twice as hard to take up such a task, so here goes...

Enjoy

There are lots of good unsigned and unknown bands who sell their albums independently on Bandcamp. Some of them are very fine indeed and you can search all the different genres and sub genres by typing in the necessary keywords for what you're looking for.

I wouldn't bother with Soundcloud as it's more of a site for hobbyists and wannabes and most of the content on there is a pile of old rubbish.
