GRETA VAN FLEET!!! (A brand new band with a 70s Zeppelin sound)

Can Greta Van Fleet revive Blues rock as the dominantly popular Genre?

  • No, but another band can. (which band?)

Didn't see enough threads about Greta Van Fleet; so I just had to make one.

Anyone alive right now, (who loves 60s/70s blues rock as much as I do), will completely understand why.

(Yes, I am fully aware the vast majority of "older" people will just simply write this vastly important band off as a "Zeppelin ripoff"; but they truly can not fully understand what it's like to be young and alive today, in 2017.

They really just can't know exactly how it feels today; to be a lover of blues rock music, yet to have the curse of being alive in this current time period... When all of the great bands you know and love are dead/and or no longer existing. Those of us in this current generation will simply have no possible chance of ever seeing any of our favorite bands live, ever.

But, perhaps Greta Van Fleet, can be our savior; the one band that revives it all for us... Perhaps this band may go on to inspire many young people to create blues rock music in this same vein; (much like the way Led Zeppelin used old blues music and started ripping it off; eventually turning it into their own killer unique sound; that same sound that all of us know and love today!)

Just keep in mind, all of the members of Greta Van Fleet are only 18 years old right now. Sure, they are clearly ripping influences from Zeppelin, but think about it, that is a truly great and marvelous thing!

It's seriously about damn time a new rock band is influenced by all the ridiculously gigantic amount of 70s blues rock that exists.

Greta Van Fleet could easily be the revival of blues rock music. It's what the genre desperately needs right now in order to survive.

Please Please Please, if you are a young person like I am, and love blues rock as much as I do, and want to see blues rock make a comeback in popularity as much as I do; listen to Greta Van Fleet and do what you can to support these guys!!!

All of these songs are from Greta Van Fleet's first EP, Black Smoke Rising; they currently only have 4 studio recorded songs, and have yet to release their first full debut album.

(This first song is currently #1 on the modern rock charts right now!)

And one from when they were very very young, (all members were just 14 years old):

Greta Van Fleet has much more content on YouTube; there are many interviews with the band, (where they talk about their musical influences), and also a ton of other live footage/song covers. If you love this band as much as I do, I highly suggest you seek it out.

Um, this "older" person considers himself a huge fan. From my perspective these guys are perpetuating the long running tradition of hard driving guitar rock.

As an "oldie" I love this band. I am hoping that they have in the long run what it takes to bring back good old rock. An optomistic YES from me

I've tried listening to these guys and I have a VERY hard time getting through a single song. The music is ok, they do have a bit of a Zep feel in spots, but for the love of God, someone put that singer out of his misery for the sake of humanity. The only thing this kid has in common with Robert Plant is that his annoying vocals MIGHT match some of Plant's worst, whiniest vocals. When Plant was on, he was pretty decent. When this kid is on, he still makes nails on a chalkboard seem like a better option. And don't get me started on his stage presence :banghead: Bad enough listening to them, but watching them makes it that much worse.

Anyone remember Kingdom Come? They were bad, especially the singer. They appeared to be an 80's hard rock Zeppelin ripoff and as bad as they were, they were amazing compared to GVF.

Just my not-so-humble opinion.

I saw them live and they are awesome, definitely my new favourite band. They are doing just fine right now too, they were selling merch the ENTIRE night, always a line up, they were racking it in.
