I once read in Classic Rock magazine about 15 years ago that the Eagles were quite possibly the ultimate sex, drugs & booze band of the 1970s making the likes of Led Zeppelin look like a bunch Sunday school kids going on a church outing to a local old folks home!!.

I must admit that I was never into the band although there hit singles were good to listen to BUT my real interest in the band is when Joe Walsh joined the band on Hotel California & The Long Run along with the live album from 1980.

I read a Amazon review of the Joe Walsh album But Seriously Folks where the reviewer who was also a Eagles fan claimed that Joe's album was "The real follow up Eagles album to Hotel California rather than The Long Run album". Maybe he's right??.

Well it's not an expectation that band members should always "get on" well with each other.
It's that I think they should be professionals and not allow personal BS to effect the future of the band.
Of course personal stuff always plays a role even in a pure business environment.
But often these differences between musicians really feel like pissy little children rather than professionals.
I use the stones as an example. Keith and Mick have had quiet a number of serious tiffs over the years.
Most notably Keef's treatment of Mick in his book. Mick was pissed.
But it just never would get in the way. It's a different category and they carry on despite the worst difficulties.
Whatever. I hate when rock stars act like rock stars.

Sure, I totally agree with you, for instance Oasis are one of my favourite bands but the Gallagher brothers are in the middle of a war with each other. I just wish they'd sort their shit out and get back to be an amazing Rock n Roll band again.

Perhaps it comes down to the fact that Mick and Keith can 'tolerate' each other enough to make millions every year because they know the score, whereas Frey and Henley were not prepared to split the same millions with Felder? For a band like the Eagles though, I think it's even worse they fell out over money because their earning potential was almost unlimited. Huge stadium tours, headline any festival in the World, why argue over 10 or 20 million quid when you can earn hundreds a year?

Actually they fell out over a comment Felder made.
There might have been other stuff brewing but the famous last night was the "whatever" comment.
I guess the idea is whoever said you are supposed to get along with everyone you work with?
Most people don't.
And they work around it.
Because they have bills to pay.
They work jobs they don't like, with people they don't like, to pay bills they wish they didn't have and if they are lucky they get to go to a show on the weekend where the job of the band is to help them forget all that crap.
Whatever.

Isn't that what split the band up in the first place, but Felder rejoined for the Hell Freezes Over Tour but was again given the boot in around 2001 over the fact he wasn't making anywhere near as much Frey and Henley?

This was all confirmed in the History of the Eagles Part 2 documentary?

@Fever - how long are those episodes?

Also, aside from what you pointed out as being terrible, how was the information? I'm interested, but if the whole episode sucks, I'll just avoid it.

The information was pretty good, but I already knew most of it.I read Felder’s autobiography and saw a previous documentary about them and it mentioned the same things.

Hello. This is my 1st post. Is there anyone on this thread who collects rare Eagles records? I have a copy of the 1st LP but instead of being on Asylum Records it's on Jet Records. Same label as ELO. It's a RCA Record club press. Both sides of the label have all the correct asylum label info 1972 SD 5054 and all the correct song titles but all printed on a multicolored Jet Records label. Exactly what was on the Asylum label version. I did some research and can't find anything on the net about this version. I'm thinking one of a kind. Any thoughts? Thanks guys. Joey

ps. the jacket says Asylum SD 5054 RCA Music Service Edition.
