L.A. Woman was released on April 19,1971. Being a huge Doors fan, I bought it immediately. Their first album remains their best but all albums had many songs of distinction.Morrison Hotel was my 2nd favorite until L.A. Woman came out and the group made another great leap forward.

But then came Jim Morrison's death, 3 months after the album's release. I'll always tie the album to his untimely passing. The night Morrison died, Riders On The Storm was constantly played on the radio stations, sending additional chills down one's spine.

Like Joplin and Hendrix, their final albums were among their best making their passing ever more sad

I do recall that the first pressing of L.A.Woman had a yellow cellophane panel over the group's picture. They got rid of the cellophane later and just tinted the picture instead

Nice review!

LA Woman is among my fav's behind Strange Days and the s/t Debut.

My Fav song off LA Woman is "Riders on the Storm".....

Riders On The Storm and Love Her Madly are the 2 favourites for me on this album. Absolutely love them.

Jim sounded so worn out and old on this album. Favourite track is L'America

well not a bad album for a band splitting up just like the Beatles "Let It Be" hmmm maybe should have said awesome album! I agree with @Riff Raff, @Magic and @recgord27 I would also added "Waiting For The Sun" to the list has for a favourite track its between "Love Her Madly" "LA Woman" and "Riders On The Storm" mind you there are other nuggets on the album I`ve purchased the "LA Woman Workshop Sessions" 2-LP Set which allows you a inside look at the bands work in process with alternate versions of a few of the iconic tracks! which has a well documented insight to Morrison, Krieger, Manzarek and Densmore Bless!!!!

the split was on due to Jim being In Paris the albums you mentioned are with the remaining members released two albums which are cool but not the full force of the Doors....:grinthumb

To me , their last album with Morri§on is a good farewell album from the classic line up, though not a great one. About 5 songs are really very good. The otter half is good or ok, but not top notch. ....

The last Doors album I'm interested in. I agree it is a high quality outing and although Morrison was talking about quiting and pursuing his poetry it was not written in stone as he had said this before as well. The trip to Paris was only supposed to be a break not a break up officially.

To me there is no REAL Doors without Jim Morrison.
