Just picked up the U2 Red Rocks Under A Blood Red Sky combo pack. Great to see the old stuff but the cd sounded awful. All bass I could barely hear Evans' sublime guitar.

The last music dvd that I bought about 5 days ago is DEEP PURPLE live at the Birmingham NEC in 2002 which was Jon Lord's final appearance with the band. I mainly bought it cos the band do several rarer songs of there's from the dim and distant past (pre-Steve Morse joining the band) cos Ritchie rarely if ever played them in a live concert situation after 1973 such as MARY LONG, FIREBALL and WHEN A BLIND MAN CRIES although I was especially interested to hear MARY LONG done live as in my opinion it's one of the better numbers off the album WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE from 1973.

As far as WHEN A BLIND MAN CRIES is concerned I don't believe Ritchie ever played that song live in concert and according to Ian Gillian "Ritchie didn't like it" plus I read that when Ritchie was to ill to play during part of an American tour back in 1972 and Randy California stood in for Ritchie Ian Gillian said they did play WHEN A BLIND MAN CRIES with Randy who gave the song a bluesy feel.

THE DOORS LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL IN 1970.

The dvd apparently features the bands last ever live film footage on stage in front of 600.000 people at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival.

The Doors took to the stage at 2:00am on August 30th 1970 and from a musical stand point they gave a strong performance although Jim Morrison who apparently was stone cold sober gave a strong vocal performance but was in a subdued mood possibly over his impending court appearance in Florida for a on stage indecency charge where Jim was looking at a possible 3 years imprisonment if found guilty?.

I got a used DVD of The Song Remains the Same, but it didn't work. I had to throw it away. Sending it back would have cost as much as I paid for it in the first place. Bummer!
