Roger McGuinn in my opinion is such an underrated guitarist. His Rickenbacker play on many of the Byrds songs was out of this world, but Eight Miles High his work was amazing on guitar. Later on in the group they added another fantastic guitarist in the late Clarence White. The Byrds also had another underrated songwriter in the band in the early days in the late Gene Clark. With added harmonies from the great David Crosby early on this band was fantastic.

The Byrds did so much during there existence as a band which to me shows they really had some great musicians in that band along the way. Roger McGuinn of course kept it all together from beginning to end but along the way The Byrds flew because of many key members like the harmonies of David Crosby and the early song writing skills of Gene Clark. Chris Hillman and Michael Clarke provided much of that steady beat early on. Chris Hillman would also later influence McGuinn to go a little Country and add the likes of Gram Parsons, Clarence White, and Gene Parsons which really solidified the later years.

What a joy it must be to discover those records for the first time. My two favourite The Byrds records are "Fifth Dimension" and "Sweetheart of the Rodeo".

I listened to Mr. Tambourine Man and Turn! Turn! Turn! so far and both are awesome. On Mr. Tambourine Man my favorite songs were , " I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better"', "Here Without You", and " The Bells Of Rhymney". On Turn! Turn! Turn! I really liked "The World Turns All Around Her"' , "He Was A Friend Of Mine", and "Set You Free This Time".

Didn't get that CD yet from Gramma. I still have Fifth Dimension and Younger Than Yesterday to give a listen to later today. So far I am really impressed especially with the harmonies.
