Roger played that 12 string on the Beach Boys version of California Dreamin' and appeared in the video too.

I've only got a couple digital singles from the Byrds, Turn Turn Turn & My Back Pages, which are just classic tunes.

Really a great band, but 60's music is before my time & I never got strong into a lot of it.

Good to see another Byrds fan, you can pick up a cheap best of from anywhere now, I still am missing one album but will get it soon:grinthumb

Yeah, that's really where I am, album buying wise, for music other than symphonic metal any more: greatest hits/best of albums.

In the late 90's I had amassed over 750 CD's, but almost never listened to most of them. Then I sold off about 600 of them. I kept most of the imports which in the 90's weren't as easy to get as they are now and some utter favorites.

Since then, I've re-purchased a lot of my then-favorite band's music as compilations (Chicago, Kansas, Beach Boys, The Who, etc). I'm no longer taking up tons of room with albums I listen to infrequently.

True, I miss out on some great tracks that weren't "hits", but I've ripped everything I own, so I can always download some odd tracks if I want.

The Byrds are definitely worthy of a good sized hits album purchase at some point.

I am still buying as I love the album tracks too and I can listen to albums whenever I want. I have thousands and it does take up room, you can get those box set vinyl replicas now which are good as they have up to 5 albums in the box. I have slowed down a lot but can't help but buy them, especially when they are cheap. :grinthumb

p.s.you can get a great priced double best of CD for the byrds.

The room isn't the problem as much as money. I spend a lot of $$$ on the genres I'm into post-2007, not to mention a ton of DVDs & blu-rays.

I wish I could go back to getting full collections of albums from every group I could possibly want. But then I'd be back in the situation where I don't have the time to listen to everything.

As it is I only listen to "my era" music (classic rock) as an occasional alternative.

I too have spent a lot of £££, on tape, vinyl and now CD and then video, DVD and now Blu-Ray, I am still spending. It is like a hobby too, I love listening to the albums but I too don't get too much time, I have to make time, which is why when I had the week off this week I took time out to visit other city's and music shops and whilst doing this I listened to music.

With the Byrds, I had a few vinyl and then got a best of on CD but decided I needed to hear all the other stuff and went on a hunt for them all on remastered CD. Just as I was nearing completion they started doing those replica box sets and I could not get the last one. I have seen it 2nd hand and will probably take my chance with one of those as I do not want to pay out a fortune.

Notorious Byrds

I thoroughly enjoy spinning my newly acquired vinyl of the Byrds' 1968 masterpiece "Notorious Byrd Brothers".Roger McGuinn's storied inspirations to lay down several varying tastes and textures that have adorned popular song through the ages yield many glorious aural fascinations. Then there's the tongue-in-cheek reference to the firing of David Crosby on the cover where the former Byrds craftsman's image was replaced with a horse………….

Great Album by The Byrds. I really like the following tracks: Goin' Back, Natural Harmony, Draft Morning, Wasn't Born To Follow, Change Is Now(My Favorite Track), and Space Odyssey.

"Younger Than Yesterday" was there 3rd album. So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star was a hit off that album. Other favorites of mine were My Back Pages & Why.
