This is how I rate the Maiden albums since the Dickinson reunion...from best to worst...

#1- "Brave New World"
#2- "Book Of Souls"
#3- "Dance Of Death"
#4- "The Final Frontier"
#5- "A Matter Of Life And Death"

A fair order actually. And all those albums are awesome. I am loving Book of Souls.

I started listening to them the other day.(I understand if you just bought Book Of Souls and are loving it. These are my opinions and I don't mean to hurt your passion for Iron Maiden.)

Anyways, I realized that, believe it or not, their lyrics and album covers are very Satanic and violent. I haven't looked into this too much. I know you guys probably think I go crazy with this kind of stuff, but this really turned me off. I was thinking about maybe getting the new album, but now, not so much.

Funny, Killers was the first album I ever heard, and the cover had be hooked long before I heard the music. It was probably Iron Maiden's artwork that made me scour album covers, looking for every bit of detail.

I am going to change this a little. Actually, a lot.

I just listened to the new album, Book Of Souls and it is stellar. Great great music. This is a really good album. And, not Satanic at all. I was wondering why everybody was saying all this stuff about how awesome it was, I finally decided I would see what all the commotion was about. I might be interested in getting this.:grinthumb:):D

I'm glad you've changed your stance!

As for Maiden being Satanists, that was an old rumour which started when they released “The Number of the Beast” but is really just bollocks. I think this quote from Steven Harris says it all “"It was mad. They completely got the wrong end of the stick. They obviously hadn't read the lyrics. They just wanted to believe all that rubbish about us being Satanists.". According to Steve, “The Number of the Beast" was inspired by a nightmare he had after watching Damien: Omen II and also influenced by Robert Burns' “Tam o' Shanter”. Last but not least, the band’s drummer, Nicko McBrain, is a born against Christian.

Since you like the new album, I really think you should check out some of the old material. I refuse to believe that you won’t find something you like. At fist, you might want to avoid “Iron Maiden”, “Killers”, “The X Factor” and “Virtual XI “ as those features other singers, which might put you off.

Fully in agreement, but must comment that Killers and Iron Maiden are amongst my favourites :guitar:

For me, X & XI didn't suffer because of the different vocalist (though after Dickinson it didn't help), but because of the writing.

The lyrics seemed extremely repetitive, moreso than any other IM albums.

Still way better than any other average metal.

Iron Maiden & Killers are great to go back to and hear the genesis of the band and the punk roots.

Both are great, but unless one of those two got you into Maiden, I'd tell any new fan to leave them for later!

@Ar-Pharazon: You are right about X & XI, but they aren't bad albums. Particularly "The X-Factor" is enjoyable imo. They just arent up there with the material with Bruce, but I certainly do not blame Blaze, whose solo work is also decent.
