The surviving former Faces have dithered about getting back together for years, and even now that their ranks have been further thinned by the death of Ian McLagan, it seems that progress toward a reunion is slow. According to guitarist Ron Wood, most of the blame rests on Rod Stewart‘s management.

That’s what Wood told the audience at a recent fan Q&A, responding to a reunion query by saying Stewart’s representatives “make everything about money and we’re trying not to do that.”

Wood, who’s been an outspoken supporter of a reunion in recent years, went on to trigger cheers and applause from the crowd when he added, “Why can’t the three surviving guys from the Faces just get together and play for people? That’s what we want to try and do. I think that would be brilliant.”

His enthusiasm is shared by Faces drummer Kenney Jones, who expressed his own sense of urgency regarding a reunion earlier this year. “Rod, Woody and me are still going to do the Faces this year,” he vowed. “It’s more important now than ever.”

Stewart hasn’t commented on Wood’s remarks, but he’s clearly still open to playing with his former bandmates, who joined him for a couple of songs at his 70th birthday party in January — although he’s also spoken recently about being eager to get back into the studio to record a new solo LP.

I would love to see Rod, Ronnie and Kenney do something together, but without Ronnie Lane and Ian McLagan it just won't be "The Faces".

I dunno - I have a Faces album and I love it, but there's something about these dinosaurs singing Memphis at their age. ;)

It might not be QUITE the same, but it would still be really cool. They sounded GREAT at their Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction with Mick Hucknal. R.I.P Ian McLagan
