What a portfolio of songs Ray has put together !

Without doubt he's right up there with Paul MacCartney another great writer and lyricist.

If I had to lose one portfolio of songs... I d be hard pressed to decide

Kinks were very progressive and inventive band. They progressed from album to album. And if they had more effective management, may be... The history of rock could be another.

Listening to the 3rd CD which comes with the Village Green Preservation Society, I thought Lavender Hill is an interesting song which I thought sort of complements "Village Green"

Yeah, I want this...looks like the UK will get it earlier than us.

The Kinks‘ earliest career-making songs will be collected on an upcoming box set titled ‘The Anthology 1964-1971.’ Among the 100-plus-song, five-disc collection’s highlights are more than two dozen previously unreleased tracks.
‘Anthology 1964-1971,’ which is due on Nov. 18, arrives 50 years after the Kinks scored their first Top 10 hit with ‘You Really Got Me.’ All of the content on the box has been freshly remastered and coupled with rare demos, interviews, outtakes, alternative mixes and extensive new liner notes.
‘Anthology 1964-1971′ follows the two-disc expanded edition of ‘Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One’ as the Kinks’ 50th anniversary celebration continues. Additional reissues are promised in 2015.

Heard that Ray and Dave were back on good terms , an even in the
studio together.

Would nt it be great if they got ... The Kinks... backtogether again...
did a 6 month tour of the UK then a 9 month tour of USA ...

taken at a leisurely pace of course ... one or two concerts per week ..

They d be a sell out on both sides of the Atlantic !

thanks for that great list of songs.

a time line would be great
all the Kinks albums with all the songs on each album
that would help us get Ray and the Kinks into perspective.

Ray and Dave are two very different characters as regards their musical direction. It was probably Dave's riffs that first thrusted them into the limelight, but Ray's more poetic approach won over in the end. It's easy to see where the problems are with a reunion.
