The bands I'm talking about play their music in the heavy/hard rock or metal (if you will) style or tradition, borrowing from the classic rock bands that I and many others admire. They will probably never be played on mainstream radio because as a rule DJ's tend to cater to the pop/dance tastes of the younger masses (in the UK at least) . However bands like Graveyard, Gentleman's Pistols, Scorpion Child, Rival Sons, Fury UK, Airbourne, The Treatment, Black Spiders, Greenleaf, Blackberry Smoke, Kadaver etc. are more than capable of playing well crafted, soulful or high energy music. They can do it in the studio and they can put it out live before a demanding audience. As far as I'm concerned they and plenty other newer bands tick all the boxes.

I'd have to agree on the 2000s - from the pop to hip hop/rap and the rock with no feeling. A bunch of bands like Jet and Buckcherry and the strokes and the vines that were supposed to re-invent rock and they quickly dissipated.

How can people not like the 80s for rock? Def Leppard, Van Halen, Guns n Roses, AC/DC, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Rolling Stones, U2, Prince.....

Agreed. I don't get all the hate for the 80s. That decade had something for everyone.

The music of the last decade or so is by far the worse to me. There of course has been some good stuff, but not much.

Used to think it was the late half of 2000 but then I started digging deeper for new bands and now would have to vote 50s but I don't hate stuff like Jerry Lee Lewis etc. at all.

2000s. Any ten year period (or fifteen if we go from 2000 - 2015) is going to offer worthy music along the way. But this century has been pretty sparse for my tastes.

I think I've steered clear of this thread a bit but thinking about it I can't make the call anyway. There has always been gear that makes me cringe whatever decade. I have a fondness for underground music with an edge. Mainstream marketing can sometimes smooth out the raw, rough facet I like (not always). I struggle with Disco, Rap, Boy Bands, Big Hair Glam, Bubblegum pop, soft rock etc. The whole Rock era is peppered with gear I can't relate to. A little more work is required now because so much ground has been covered but there are still fantastic bands out there. So I guess I have to remain on the fence.
good to here your point of view.
It is true otherwise I wouldn't have bothered saying it.

I like it sox...
I haven't voted due to I`ve found music to enjoy in most of the decade...

The lovely decade in which I was born. 2000's. I really don't like the hip hop/rap stuff and also the Pop music is for **** as well. There are a handful of bands that are good like the Foo Fighters and The White Stripes.

The 80s was the most destructive decade for audio and video ever!!

This digital trash started ruining analog, bands started using FAKE INSTRUMENTS instead of real stuff that sounded better,etc...........

I would say the 80s!!
